I don't really agree with some of the some of the sanctions like gaming companies and fast food companies pulling out of Russia. Those products don't really help the Russian war effort, even tangentially. If McDonalds pulled out of the US, we'd have a lot less obesity here and my health insurance premiums would go down. I'd almost rather they left the US and went to Russia. I'd definitely let gaming companies and other drug dealers continue to do business in Russia.
Long story short. Russia was mostly disconnected from swift, meaning you cant buy games "properly", yet, friends of mine from Russia, can simply use third party ways to add currency of steam wallets to buy games.
Or they can simply just change their region to another CIS country, which is not even bannable by steam, because CIS in steam acts like a single region over-all, just with different currencies for different countries.
Considering not a lot of regular steam users will go with all those shenanigans and companies for sure will lose some money, they just decides to use this as a "act of a support", while in reality they understand that ppl who want to buy games still have plenty of ways to do so.
Point being, if russia would have still been in swift, no-one would have region locked them. If it wasnt the case, then companies would have region locked russia from their games and not just close purchasing in steam. |
They have hired some young guns from 1v1, 2v2. So I have hopes 1v1 will be okay.
Recovery vehicles and CoH2 release like flame weaponry say hello
No idea, but I'm pretty confident they are not "Using the same engine as coh1 with some light modifications."
Either I am imagining things or Relic themselfs told in one of their latest videos, that they have multi-core support in the updated engine. |
Which one is being prioritized or overweighted to estimate your skill for the match up?
Other games have it definitely easier to get this data, but I am fairly certain that e.g. Rocket League does exactly that on ranked ladders.
Other games in a first place, try to match equal amount of AT players, or they dont even have AT rank. And I personally would say that the whole idea behind AT\Random wont simply work, unless AT teams are prioritise against other AT teams in most of the situations.
The logical solution would be to just combine both of them and just have shared faction rank. This might bring its own problems, like having ranks boosted by playing in AT teams, but over-all at very least it will allow strate forward MM, where each player could get equally rank opponent. Pretty much competitive games like CSGO, R6 and others use this method. It has its own flaws and drawbacks, but its definitely much better then what we have in CoH2.
But how would you calculate that factor for reward and punishment when winning or losing to an arranged team?
It we imagine that the shared rank system is implemented, CoH2 like AT data could also be kept. And losing\gaining amount of ELO for randoms could be calculated based on the W\L of the AT team. But even this wont be really needed, if MM will get opponents more or less with-in your skill level, since, as I was saying, if match is fair skill-vise in a first place its hardly matters if your are AT or not. |
They should have tons of data of CoH2 to make a decent guess for CoH3, how much stronger an arranged team is, just because they are "arranged" and not random.
Problem is not the AT themselfs, even randoms are capable of winning vs AT teams, when the match is fair skill vise. AT team surely will have an advantage, but its not the over the top one.
Particularly in CoH2 problem with AT teams is AT rank and the way its made is complete and utter BS. Game simply doesn't take into a consideration individual AT players ranks, which leads to MM being garbage.
There is no easy way to even fix this problem. You cant take individual ranks, because there are people who exclusively play AT and dont have solo rank, but you also cant have this "artificial" AT rank because for the game rank 14 AT consisting of top 10 players is equal to legit AT of rank 14 players for instance.
The only solution would probably be, instead of changing how AT works, change how randoms vs AT treated. Randoms should be rewarded more or pushed less when playing against AT teams for sure, at least it this would soften the unfairness of the MM.
And the second solution would be making AT teams prioritise playing against other AT teams. Because right now, MM just throwing AT teams against randoms simply because it allows to find game faster. |
if they remove support for coh2, they should at least let us mod the game properly
Nah, will never happen. Even if we imagine, that Relic still has people who is responsible for CoH2 (which they dont, because they cant even upload few new portraits without unloading old patch), CoH2 technical side is in a such a bad state, that full modding support will just destroy it.
Not to mention lack of all the necessary tools, because back in the day, all vCoH tools were made by modders, not relic and all of them are long gone.
At least there is no Duffy to do the most horrible story plot in a campaign, there's no way they can fuck that up
Honestly if it will be another "DUUUH HEROIC ALLIES", then it will be just as bad, at least for me. Campaign preview already showed us generic cowboy bad-ass american and smug british, but it the lastest campaign showcase it was somewhat bearable, so who knows.
I would have rather picked Men of War approach with its "Here is your briefing, here is your objectives", rather then "every battle tells a story" ... except its being told by a total moron. |
What I really hate the most, is the fact that so many ppl complained about camera distance in pre-alpha, while it was tied to the map elevation.
At the same time, closer camera distance, is better for optimisation, because render zone could be made smaller, making performance better, I am afraid that, unless camera is fixed to react to elevation properly, we will get the same problem but in reverse, i.e being way too zoomed because of elevation (coh2 has the same problem btw).
Imo camera should have been like in MP alpha, but 25% closer + have elevation fix. But relic just decided to make it more zoomed in I guess, without even trying to fix elevation problem. |
Or the worst case scenario is Coh3 is trash and people go back to Coh2. Then maybe Coh2 will see another patch.
Nah, CoH2 on release was trash compared to vCoH, yet it didn't stop relic to abandon vCoH.
At this point, it safe to consider that CoH2 is living its last 4 months, before becoming a dead game. I highly doubt, it will even maintain small player base after CoH3 release regardless of its state. |
Paths on the other hand are for "2x scott + 2x jackson" and hide. Couple it with the fact that few people go for the luchs or double 222s in games, and you get what you get. Literally seen recently a double luchs plays that drove the pathfinder spam back to base.
Idk who are you watching, but if Path USF player allows himself to be pushed solely by LVs in teamgames, he is just playing like shit and he should uninstall.
Even if you somehow, unable to get 3 points by the time LVs hit the field (and you are unable to do it only in situations where Wehr is staling with double MG), then you can either:
1) Tech to Captain and just get AT gun, because even without map control, you would still have enough fuel
2) If you behind MP vise, just unlock weapon rak and get double zooks.
No matter the situation, USF can almost always get himself AT source to fight early game LVs, unless he is already loosing badly.
I literally myself saw, how top OKW guy in 2v2, rushed 221 the second he could possible get it (with equal map control) from the get go, against top 10 path spammers and even by that time they already had zooks. |
It could also be because of the russian price and grey market. We know many keys from grey market come from Russia, not necessarily from russian but the exchange market make it really cheap for western people to buy russian keys. It could be simply a decision to delay the release in Russia because of it.
Nah, CIS keys are region locked, meaning they can be activated only in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and so on. Its not possible to receive of sent a gift to Europe\US.
On top of that Relic\Sega strate up removed regional pricing in countries with low wages, creating situations where base CoH3 edition costing like 2 Copies of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Point being, that Russia in a first place was blocked, because there is no way for Russians to use cards to buy games and they are forced to use scummy methods like selling items\use gift card with different currency and so on. But obliviously majority of the Russian community wont do this because they dont give a fuck, therefor Relic\Sega can freely region lock them to get themselfs some "karma points" in public eyes.
While at the same time bumping up the price in low wages regions, to compensate for lose of Russian market. |
I just want my Obers in COH3 \o\
Your wish is granted |
