Please remove counter barrage from the german lhef artillery, its just
ridiculous the fact that there still is an ability in the game the game that requires you to do absolutely nothing to get a howitzer to vet 3 (or 5 if playing okw.
I kind of agree with this. The British Mortar pit was nerfed to require user imput for precisely the same reason, yet in team games you can set your howitzer to auto fire and it will take out katies randomly with no effort required. |
I have seen some high level plays where sturmpiospam worked, but it kinda depends on the opponent playing into it. The strategy seems to work best by focussing heavily on the infantry war with piospam into Obersoldaten Spam, using the shwerer panzer hq to defend your fuel/cut off while using infantry to apply pressure to the enemy fuel. Protection against LVs is provided by schrecks on 2 of the pio squads. Your infantry will simply bleed the enemy out while you save for a powerfull AT tank to deny an enemies comeback using an AI tank.
Where the strategy fails is when the enemy decides to not play into your infantry war, and instead focusses on bleeding your expensive infantry using HMGs, Indirect Fire, and snipers, and not focussing so much on having a large amount of infantry themselves.
So it can work, but like any non conconventional stratagy, it can be exploited. |
I am not a fan of the target size reduction of mediums. It makes units like the Puma, Stug3, and SU76 harder to use than they should be. |
Point 12 is not about infantry. |
120 mm is basicly a howitzer especially agaisnt ost 4 Men untis
dont need off maps
no heavy tanks neede because mark target and SU85 shred every heavy...
U know why the commander is meta since release?
Jeez, I never knew that if something is Meta it means it has 0 exploitable weaknesses and can be used in every gamemode. Thanks for enlightening me.
Well OP, seems you are out of luck and nothing can be done to increase your odds when fighting against double Guard Motor in team games. Best to just switch to OKW. |
? UKF armor has 45 sight...
And I don't think they should. British Tank Commanders should have been doctrinal abilities with some extras, not non-doctrinal no-brainer stat increasers. |
I don't think we should meddle with core game mechanics such as spotting for your armor. Not without trade offs at least. |
I would just give it a penetration bonus. Performance against mediums remains the same and performance against heavies goes up. |
I think the only thing about Guard Motor I find a bit too strong is the 85 considering its cheaper than the OKW P4 and also has Mark Target in this commander allowing it to easily beat out any armor around its cost. I think its performance would be more justified if it was 140 fuel at least.
Now you are comparing a tank+doctrinal ability with just another tank. That would be like saying that the puma needs a cost increase because it punches above its weight with heat rounds. |
To counter an enemy you first need to think about what the strengths and weaknesses are. Then, you need to figure out how to play to these weaknesses.
If you look at guards, you have:
+ High long range anti-infantry DPS when stationary
+ Anti LV guns
+ Temporary snare
+ Can jump to yellow cover in the open
- Terrible DPS while moving
- High model MP costs for Soviets
- Short range nade, more for self defense
- Snare can be broken by smoke
So how does one play against this? Well, you could for example exploit the relative high model cost and terrible on the move DPS with a sniper. Or, you could exploit the guards stationary nature with a mortar. Just trying to outgun them with LMG grens is not enough as you are playing into their strengths.
The same can be done on a docrinal level. Guards Motor has:
+ mark target
+ strong premium tanks
+ guards
+ 120mm mortar
- no off map bombs
- no howitzers
- no heavy tanks
How do you deal with this? Well, Mark Target is good against heavy tanks so probably best to avoid those. But there are no bombs and the premium tanks have fairly short range so Teller mine play and PAK43s are an option. Howitzers are also very hard to counter and can rack up a ton of kills against the low mobility guards.
A good counter doctrine to pick for example would be Storm Doctrine. The lack of recon runs and the guards poor performance on the move can be exploited with mid-range Pgren ambushes. The agressive nature of T34/85's can be exploited with Riegel mines, and the lack of bombin run can be exploited using Howitzers, which are good against the 120mms, guards, and can even deal with Katys if you use counter barrage.
Try to analyze doctrines and unit composistions in this way and it will help you a lot in finding counters. Good luck! |
