I think the Tiger Ace is just like a normal tiger as far as engine damage is. Front armor can deflect rams, rear armor cannot.
But unlike vTiger, it can kill T-34s in two shots.

Having used it, the Tiger Ace most useful to 'turn the tide' when you are losing irrevocably. It's a calculated risk made to seal the deal in a long (CP 7+) game. Victory or death.
The Tiger ace costs only 24 population even though it has the worth of 2 tigers. This means that you are less restricted by pop cap.

I think it's a waste to use veterancy on infantry and snipers. Elite troops gives the infantry stun grenades and G43s, the former of which is a strong buff. Stun grenade, then rifle grenade. Stun grenade, then bundle grenade. Very effective.
V3 Pak/mortars have new levels of performance but they themselves are cleared a bit too easily.
Veterancy should be reserved to buff up your tanks to new levels of performance. I used it on my T3/T4 tanks. You spend 3 x veterancy and you have a vetted up tank already with superior performance. (60 fuel)

Tiger Ace has smoke discharger and blitkrieg right off the bat. I also think it has spotting scope and extra long (+10) shooting range too, as the view range is quite large. |
The Tiger Ace can 2 shot T-34s and fires twice every 11 seconds or so. It is not easy to destroy if you cover its flanks with the rest of your army, which will be up to 70+ population. |
If you were to price the Tiger Ace, it would be 400 fuel, 1300 manpower. It probably has around 2,500 HP. It quickly knocks out tanks, and often before they escape (320 damage) since you can 1, 2, or 3 shot so many tanks including the SU-85. It 2 shots squads.
Literally, you'd have to play for a long time just to store all those resources. In this respect, it does make sense for them to stop all resources. You just received a superweapon for 24 population.. instead of the 48 or so for 2 tigers.
In playing I realize that the Archilles heel are only a few and all of them take some work/risk to do:
-a solid T-34 rear ram or engine damage.
-The new heavy vehicle, KV-2 lockdown strikes or long range ISU-152 shots. |
I bought both Elite troops and Soviet Industry. Both are powerful commanders, and even better than the Assault support.
The Tiger Ace is sick unit to say the least. It does elephant damage so every shot it fires from its mgs/cannon is double.
It also has enhanced sight range (spotting scopes I think, double vision) so you can use the Tiger Ace unsupported to a certain extent.
It's has a firing range of 50. It moves a little bit slower than the normal tiger.

I saw a map called 'Stalingrad' on the steam. Is that map available for multiplayer vanilla or does one have to buy the expansion?
Or is it just the developer's toy? |
