I have wondered if one of the daily casters has some sort of contract with the company. |

The teching is around the same I think. The Stug IV is really cheap compared to the Panzer IV, and the cost difference between the two is wider than the one in COH2. The vcoh Panther is cheaper than COH2 but not as strong as it is in Coh2.
Overall, there are still quite a few things that Vcoh did better than COH2. I like M10s and Hellcats a hell a lot more than the SU-85s.
What surprised me from playing Vcoh is how many universal upgrades there are and how expensive some of the vital ones are. For instance, the BAR and stick bomby upgrade cost 120 fuel together. |
I can see the new Tiger Ace as being able to guarantee at least 2 armor kills. It comes with stun munitions ability which will be useful for stopping T-34s from ramming and stopping SU-85's from reversing. |
As far as the new Tiger Ace goes, I see good players keeping a 800 manpower float, and using the Ace to spearhead an attack.
However, instead of withdrawing their normal tiger, they will push harder and until the Ace gets killed.
So in this way, the resource penalty is minimized. So the update is not necessarily a 'nerf' .
This Ace reminds me of the Tiger tanks from the Blitzkreig and Terror doctrines from VCOH. Although different, they costed only manpower to call in. |
I recently played VCOH again and I am once again reminded how much I miss the Sherman vs. Panzer IV/Stug IV dynamic. The vanilla Sherman was weak AT/Strong AI and a universal upgrade could turn all Shermans into Sherman 76 so it could compete with the Panzer IV. US also relied on the cheaper M18 or M10 with the 76mm gun.
As a German player, you had the Stug IV and the Panzer IV, although in different (but not expensive) tiers.
These were crucial main-line tanks yet in COH2 they made it completely asymmetrical to the point where one has to rely on Call-ins if they are Soviet. There were things that deserve to be asymmetrical- but making T3 amazingly asymmetrical was not one of them. |
I read the patch notes for the Tiger Ace. IF these are accurate:
It's 800 MP.
The resource stop is based on the survival of your Ace. When it dies, your resources go back to normal. So when you bring it in, you lose 25% of your MP gains and 90% of your fuel gains.
So literally, you are stuck with the Ace and whatever armor you have on the field for the time being. But your MP is still pretty much there.
As far the ACE goes, it is like a normal tiger tank but it has the 'stun vehicle' ability. There is no more 'double armor, double damage' BS.
This is a radical change to the Elite troops commander. Also, purchasable veterancy recharge has been increased in cost and raised to 30 seconds. |
Panzerwerfers are good, but I'm not a fan of their firing rate. They fire faster than the Soviet rocket truck, but fire only 1 more accurate barrage instead of three.
Experience has showed me that the Soviet rocket truck is simply much more effective. It carpet bombs an area that will completely punish blobbing and will give a 2nd or 3rd chance if the 1st barrage misses. The Panzerwerfer's small strikes are often not enough- too often I don't do the damage I want or it misses. Then the opportunity is lost.
So the Germans are a bit weak in the rocket department, and I will sometimes get 2 Panzerwerfers if I can afford it. Rocket trucks- only 1 is needed. |

In team games I either go tigers or go T4 and Brummbar first. (skip T3 completely) By then I hopefully still have 2 vetted PzG with Panzershrecks. The PzG + Brummbar work well.
I don't like the Pak40 very much compared to the PzG and will only get one based on terrain.
So after the brummbar then I get 2 Panthers, and then the Panzerwerfer. I will not get a panzerwerfer unless I have a panther in the field first.
I always have 1 Brummbar and 1 Panther on the field if possible.
====
With the Soviets, I also completely ignore T3. I go T4 only plus IS-2. I use the SU-76 if I get SU-85s. If I go IS-2, I don't bother with Su-76s.
A Zis pair is a must.
Once the armor I want on the field is there, I get the Rocket truck. |
The current models used for the Soviets and Germans are historically inaccurate and based (according to what I've heard from the developers) on the need for the troops to stand out.
The most obvious one is the lack of great coats. Both the Soviets and Germans wore a lot of greatcoats in the winter although these were issued along with padded winter uniforms (Soviet) and reversible winter pants/coat (one side white, other side Wehr camo).
------------------
I do know a bit about German uniforms:
The current grenadier models are odd as it's a one piece bodysuit with wehr camo. Wehr camo uniforms were typically two piece (pants and jacket). The Wehr camo helmet cover was issued (most obviously to GD ) but was relatively rare.
The Winter Grenadier is actually wearing a Waffen SS fur smock. These were issued in the winter of 1942-1943 to the SS PzG divisions. The Wehr did not wear these.
------------
The PzG is wearing SS Pea dot camo helmet/pants, and not regular army. His jacket is regular Wehr reversible white/green. Overall his getup is odd and I've never seen a German soldier dressed like that.
The Winter PzG however, is fine- white jacket, white pants. |
The counter against the Panthers/Infantry in team games are IS-2 doctrines.
Use IS-2s with Zis guns w/ conscripts & AT nades. |
