If only the were more legit commander options. I love experimenting and thinking outside the box with commanders, its more satisfying and can potentially surprise your opponent.
However, having said that, its hard to see past Elite Troops and Mechanised Assualt as Werh and Shock Rifle and Guards Motor as Sov
(OK sov has more viable options, but those 2 are mustard.. Werh is weaker on choices). |
Speaking purely IRL, having a higher rate of fire would allow you to spray over a wider area and still put enough rounds down to supress over quite a wide zone.
This is represented in game by the large arc. But not really the suppression output, because thats how it used to be, and it was OP and spammed. |
The design of OKW is to more easily hold a smaller section of the map (Forward retreat, Schwer HQ etc), and struggle with the extreme flanks slightly.
Kind of like Werh design, except more extreme.
MGs and mortars both help attack/hold territory away from your main front line, which is why they are missing or weakened for the OKW.
The ISG field gun, follows this. It works well near your main front line and base forward buildings. It does not work so well to assault away from your main front line. |
I never said Ost is perfect now. But they have improved, and are much closer matched to the others now IMO, esspecially as OKW came down a little.
What I did say, is be thankful they didnt overbuff something.. like scout car to the levels of a Panzer Elite Armoured Car for example.

I agree the tiger can be tricky to field in time in 1v1. I prefer just lots of P4s, which allows you to use a doctrine with more useful abilities.
Spotting scopes can really make your life easier keeping tanks alive and also doing damage from a greater range (kiting). You can try the elifant doc, just dont use the eli. stuka bomb can be useful if you can catch a team weapon or capping squad unaware.
I also find soviet to be easier, I feel their playstyle of swarming the map and out capping/ surrounding the enemy to be more intuitive than being on the defensive as Werh.

The only real issue with the MG42 is the broken incendiary rounds ability. Why the fuck is it time based? Between that and the mandatory reload it triggers when activated, you're basically making a useless ability that fights against itself.
Because its cheap and strong and is intended to be used defensively. It might be too good if you could position them offensivley easily (like used to be the case).
The timer last longer than the bursts. Your supposed to scout for when danger is coming and activate it with plenty of time. |
Nathan, get a grip. They made some good positive changes to Ost, without over buffing anything which they have often been known for in the past. Give them a break.
People will moan at literally anything they do. |
I just dont like Tigers. Period. I never have in coh2, every time I come back to Tigers, I end up hating them because they are slow. I tend to prefer P4 spam over Tigers, and even then Im thinking of throwing the odd Stug in for TWP. |
I agree Ost still struggles a little bit. But the new MG and sniper and scout car all help the early game a fair bit.
Late game vs Soviet can be a pain. |
I experienced the duplication bug. Not sure if I lost any. Perhaps duplicates were over writing existing ones. |
