Hi
I tried playing this week, after work. I couldnt really find any games. The one or two 2v2 games I found was a steam roll. Sniper starts into t70's / t34's, soviet industry. It was really one sided. The only 1v1 I found was nice though, quite even, none of the new commanders I dont know.
What I wanted to know was, are these new commanders beatable on a casual level of play, without any new OP commanders of my own? I checked some of the german commanders, the luftwaffe seems quite cool, but the tiger ace, I dont like that kind of MP bleed, im sure its a very viable 2v2 style but its not my style.
I dont really play CoH2 often, so its pointless to spend any money on it. There are no other rts titles that have my interest either so, I play this every now and then.
1: Are these new commanders beatable on a casual level of play, without any new OP commanders of my own?
2: Does it always take forever to find a game? lol.
3: Why does almost everyone play germans? Tiger ace really that popular? 1v1 and 2v2, never less than 50% germans.
4: Why do my threads always feel dumb and pointless before I press create? even though these are real questions.
1. I would say so. The Tiger Ace can be beaten with any soviet commander, the key is the right preparation, as soon as you see unusally eraly vet units or encounter stun grenades you can be sure that he's gone Elitetroops. Most important is to cripple the ace's mobility (mines, ram, at-nades (you might get lucky), button (he might run out of muni soon if you start eraly enough)etc.). Fighting it can be really hard, and a skillful opponent can make it even harder.
Soviet Industry can also be beaten with any German commander, although it can be very very hard. Here too, the key is preparation. Sov ind players usually go 3-4 conscripts and then straight into t-70. Not seeing any special infantry or weaponteams is often an indicator. Make sure to have a pak and shreked grens around, and if you feel confident enough place a teller mine.
I'm sure there are a lot of players that are more "pro" than I am who are willing to give you some advice. Also, if you search the forums a bit you might find some more answers too.
2. Sometimes it takes longer sometimes it doesn't I guess
3. The percentages you see when you are searching for a game, only show players in your elo-ranking area, in other words; players with similiar skill. There seems to be some consens that germans are easier to play thus are more represented within the lower ranks. In my opinion it's just totally random, sometimes you'll have more soviet players around sometimes it's more german players.
4. It's alwys good to ask
