What I read is ppl asking for something like the Puma (and the Puma was directly mentioned): a unit that can engage infantry and drive them off.
While that may be an option by simply increasing the price, I also feel that some players are just being too lazy here. They don't want the hazzle of having to kite infantry. They want an anti-infantry tank that they can park in the middle of the conscript blob.
Well, you know what? I don't like that kind of game. I'm perfectly all right with 221/2 and M3 being paper tanks they are.
I wouldn't mind the m3 and Sdkfz. 222 being paper tanks if there only wasn't this horrible pathfinding and lag.
8 out of 10 times I lose them because they get stuck on a flagpole or tree. |
Only with infantry and support.
Tank battle is in favour for Ostheer. OH have stronger tanks with better armour and another armour + with vet2. Blitz and smoke very help in survival too.
As Soviet you cannot make mistake with tank.
I'm afraid you missunderstood me here. German tanks are better and therefore cost more which is perfectly fine.
From a gameplay perspective this means that losing a t-34 or a su-85 as a soviet player doesn't hurt as much as losing a panther or PIV as a german player. So in conclusion soviet tank play is more forgiving than german tank play.

Anyways, I think the current 1 CP Shocks are more popular because they are a really easy unit to use in most situations (right-click near enemy, very hard to wipe the squad especially with anything available early, meaning they need very little babysitting) and their counters use a lot of resources (combined with a high risk of losing them), are hard to use (sniper, arguably flame HT), or are contained effectively by other units normally accompanied by Shocks (Conscripts Oorah and AT grenades deter/cripple FHT and Sniper, if they are running away they can't prevent the Shocks from killing everything else).
Exactly. Right now, between two roughly equally skilled players the one going soviets will win except the OH player delivers a flawless game. |
So was Americans and Wehrmacht in VCoH.
The main problem with Sovs is that they seem to have the best of all worlds
a) Gimmicks (single abilities) which can beat down the most powerful of the Ostheer
b) Strong call-in infantry available very early, much better than any call ins Ost has (If you were lucky, you'd see 1 rangers/Airborne squad in the first 10 minutes)
c) Support weapon sizes
d) Cheap gimmicky tanks
e) Mines
f) A Crits/RNG system clearly favouring numbers over strength
When all of these are combined together, you get a very ridiculous side which doesn't take too much skill to win with. It's no wonder the SNF score's around, what 25-10 now?
Its no wonder not too many ppl are playing. I mean, you can only play against Brits for so long...
Soviet are just way more forgiving than Ostheer.
4-man squads are just more likely to get wiped than 6-man squads.
Expensive upgrades punish you more severely when investing in the wrong upgrade or losing the upgraded unit compared to cheap or universal upgrades.
Having expensive tanks makes losing them way more dramatic than losing a cheap tank. |
Heavy Strafing Run
For the strafe is fine the way it is, just lower the DMG so it can't completely kill squad on the first pass. You have your vet3 PG/Gren and they are gone in a instant is not fun.
I think the area the plane covers and the fact that it wipes retreating squads is a way bigger issue than the actual damage it does. |

Raise the MP cost to 440 to match the KV-1 perhaps. The tank itself is fine, though.
I actually think the KV-8 is alright the way it is but a MP cost increase wouldn't hurt. |
Shocks eat lmg grens for breakfast. Vet 3 or not. Unless you have 3 squads they will tear right through them while barely losing health.
Lmg grens can deal with shocks to a certain extent, but it needs quite a lot of micro and attention while you can simply rightclick shocks near the target squad and see them getting shredded in no time. |
G43 stomp penals in no time.
Most germas only spam grens blob and if you dont have shock troops, you have problem deal with this blob. But sometimes i have lucky satchel throw. :-)
Penals can do a fine job against g43 grens provided you use them correctly.
Btw g43s come at 2cps. By that time you should have plenty stuff on the field that can deal with them. Also if you applied enough pressure he won't be able to upgrade more than one or two squads with g43s.
1cp shocks are definitely not the one and only way to go against g43 heavy gren play. |
I still disagree that shocks at 1cp is a problem. Guards are 1cp is a bit too early though.
Snipers are the super hard counter to shocks. 40mp drain per pop, yes please. The German sniper fires MUCH faster than the soviet sniper, so it's a even harder counter than Rus sniper vs PGs.
Shocks are very cost effective against non-upgraded grens, yes. But, once you have LMGs on all your grens, shocks completely lose their effectiveness.
Nobody asked for 1cp Shocks or Guards, nobody. It was a completely unneeded change that deteoriated 1v1 gamplay and pretty much destroyed 2v2+ gameplay. |
If he gets more than 1 shocks (or if it's a team game) then your build becomes very cost effective.
Double snipers in a team game? They'll have a very very hard time avoiding clowncars...
The 1cp shocks and guards combo eats up pretty much everything in 2v2. |
