If I am not mistaken the gun was the same in real life and I think is the same in CoH2.
SU-85 have a bit higher penetration but T-34/85 got a turret? Not sure after the changes.
The point is however they are far better then T-34/76 especially after recent reload time decrease.

t34/85 shoots 2 seconds slower, has 2.5 times more AOE, 60 less pen, and 2.5 less distance scatter but 2.5 more angle scatter.

Its not a nerf to Industry, because Ost is still as disabled and pressured early to get AT out, regardless of whether Sovs early armor majority is hitting infantry or not.

It doesnt "indirectly nerf" Sov Industry anymore or any less than than it "indirectly nerfs" any other Commander or unit in the game. Its a generalised and universal adjustment that improves the game.

youre really going to argue that industry is 100% as strong after this change? stopping to shoot will help mitigate the change, but its still going to have an effect. since soviet industry relies more heavily on tanks than any other doctrine, it will be affected the more than the other doctrines. pgrens and paks will now survive longer against tanks in most situations. also, tanks shooting other tanks is basically unchanged. since soviet industry generally lacks infantry, german tanks fighting soviet industry will be largely unaffected.

youre also forgetting AT guns are now 40mp cheaper. before you say thats not a big enough change, remember assault grens. at launch they were 280mp and there were whine threads everywhere. now theyre 320mp and no one talks about them anymore. this change was before industry and ace came out too, so that doesnt explain why the complaints stopped.

i just glanced at a few of the grenades. every one that i looked at did the normal amount of damage to units in light or heavy cover, but they did double damage to units in buildings or negative cover.

at least thats just the few i looked at. there may have been some that did do more damage to units in cover though.

i havent tested this much, but i think even 1m is too deep for infantry. i could be wrong though. onkelsam's spline tutorial has a lot of good tricks you might want to use for changing the height and width of specific parts of the river instead of the whole thing.

also, once youre happy with the shape of your river, you could always bake it, then just use the height map editor to make a portion of it shallow. theres quite a few ways you could do it. it kind of depends on what shape youre trying to make. youll have to play around and see which method works best for you.

Well, I've no inside-code-knowledge about grenades, but I find that hard to believe. It really seems very random. I've had grenades that did literary no damage at all even though there were some entities in the blast radius for certain.

the distance from the center of the blast is very important. the amount of damage dealt is different depending on this distance. also, the only randomness is for units very close to the edge of the explosion. grenades have accuracy just like any other weapon, so if a unit is on the very edge, it has a .6 chance of getting hit. the area that can actually miss is very small though. if you get a direct hit on or near the center of the circle, it will deal full damage 100% of the time.

molotovs on the other hand are extremely random (as are all flame weapons). the damage on flamethrowers (exluding kv8) and molotovs is actually quite low. they rely on crits (instant kills) almost entirely. their chance to crit is based on the targets hp. if it has >50% hp, it has a 5% chance to crit. if it has <50% hp, it goes up to a 10% chance.

explosives actually have a similar crit. any entity with <50% will have a 10% chance to die instantly when hit with a grenade, or any explosive. this is fairly insignificant though, since 50% hp is equal to 40 hp. most explosives will do more than 40 damage. the only time they would do less is close to the edge of the blast radius. so its a much rarer occurance than flame crits.
