When the axis are below 100 VPs, sometimes with less than 10 to go we are pushed back by a King Tiger (sometimes a Tiger too) but more importantly 2-4 Panthers supporting it. 2 IS-2's with AT gun and SU-85 support, vetted infantry too, just gets pushed back further and further it seems - the IS's taking a beating and having to repair for years. Panther and KT front armour seems to be able to tank it significantly better, causing a lot of glancing shots from all of the above. They also seem to be repaired quicker or have enough panthers undamaged they can chase down the occasional damaged vehicle and blitz away or just sit at the VPs and chip away far too well at infantry trying to cap.
What are we doing wrong?
IMO one of the reasons you lost is that your team lacked tanks that can do close quarter combat like T-34 or PzIV.
As Soviet i think one should not spam Su-85s without T-34 (76/85)'s support, on their own they can't do shit against infantry and vulnerable to armor rush. IS-2 or other heavy tanks are good but expensive, have low rate of fire and not very accurate on the move.

The last few days I started learning to play USF properly, i've gone from 11-12 to 23-13. The secret to USF, is DON'T BUILD JACKSONS. I seriously compare this tank to the su-76, its that bad. American AT guns, bazookas, air strikes, or even mass Shermans are all better options to take down German armour.
Its fragile, its range is highly exaggerated, its inaccurate, its speed is meh, its penetration is iffy and it can't hurt infantry.
Yes, just like in the old vCOH it's obviously not cost effective to build a tank destroyer which is expensive, get hard counter by what it counters, and can't do shit to infantry.
God Relic why bother to change the model from M10 (vCOH) to M36 (COH2)? As for now it's just the same. Against an equal skilled opponent only when you have a big advantage you can enjoy the luxury of using M36/M10, but if not you better go with AT guns as the main AT for USF.

If they are not design to fight at frontline, which inf I should use for it? Cons? Penals?
I think Penals are good. You never use them?

I don't think Germany put their hands on Switzerland. As for Austria I think the Austrian army surrendered to Germany and joined them.
No you're wrong seriously, Austria conquered Germany and Germany had to join them in WW2. Hitler was Austrian, remember? |
Well all they did at mid game was spamming infantry and wait for heavy call in tanks, you should've gone T3 and crush them with Panzer 4 and ostwind. |
Definitely give Penals flamer a try. Also remember at mid late game stage Cons is only for support role they don't have the strength to take on Axis infantry by themself so normaly you only need two squad of them, leaving more room to other useful units.
Mortar is good for making him move his unit not just sit back in cover and snipe you from afar.
If you are in team game you should coordinate with your team mate one go maxim one go penals/sniper + m3 try your best to seize advantage in early game and use mines effectively.
Hope that help |
I built 2 HM-38 120mm mortars in a 3v3 team game, and I scored 49 and 52 kills respectively on Lanzerath Ambush a couple days ago. Every time my wehr opponents grenadiers would stop to fire lmgs they would die like flies. I can post replay if necessary...
last night I was in 2v2 on semoisky and SU opponent built 2 HM-38's and USF opponent built 2 M8 scott howitzers in mid game once his ally had guards/zis combo up to stop my vehicles from darting in and destroying them. My grenadier lmgs dropped so fast it wasnt even funny...i tried avoid heavy cover to avoid clumping up but then my grens melted to the usf inf onslaught.
Granted, everyone is affected by new squad tight clumping but the grens are hurt the most because they need lmgs to be viable as game progress, and once you get the lmg you have to be stationary to use it so you are mortar/howitzer food...at least with okw you have sturms that can always be on move, SU has cons, penals, shocks and usf has...well everything. My only move would be to get PGs which I did but they are so freaking expensive.
If that wasn't bad enough, usf got a 105mm sherman and started 1 shotting 3 and 4 man squads at almost every opportunity. And no I didn't blob my units at all...but each squad packs themselves so tightly they are basically always in danger of being annihilated by any type of explosive round even when the squads are full health and 4 men still.
I like the new cover system in that it fixed units being next to green cover and not taking it even after several clicks but I hate how powerful explosives have become due to the same system.
Is relic aware of how powerful this is now?
One last thing, in that semoisky game when it was all over but the crying, i was messing around and used rifle nade to fire on a full health guards squad at the stone wall by our base...entire squad went down! that is ridiculous.
/rant over
Ha ha ha serves you right you Axis fanboy. I'm so delight to see those A-move grens of yours be wiped out of the planet time after another, so much i just can't get enough of it |
Flank them with Flamethrower Penals................ |
No need to become a smaller version of the ISU-152 but at least it should be able to cause some reliable damage to infantry like Panther and Stug with MG upgraded. Especially with those Shrek blobs running around the map.
And decrease T4 cost AND Su-85 cost so that Soviet player can go both T3 T4 when needed (play commanders with no call in tanks), please.
|
And give the Su-85 some anti infantry capability, please.
As for now, it does not suit as a T4 tank at all, even a Zis does the job better. |
