Hi, I watched your replay. I'm not a good player or anything but here's my opinion:
In the early game I don't think you need a mortar. There's no MG-34 around or even if he has MG-34 you can easily counter it with your Maxims. If you want to get him out of those buildings just upgrade flamers and/or Molotov.
You're floating munition at some points but did not use Demo?
At the 32 minutes mark you're floating almost 1000 manpower and 200 fuel or so but not teching at all. Should've gone for T4 and made 2 Kats instead of IS-2(no IS-2 if you see JpzIV). In my opinion if the game drags that long against OKW you really need Kats.
Hope that help .

Katyusha is your only hope as Soviet (and Allied) late game.... |
IMO whether from gameplay or historical viewpoints, swapping the T-34/76 for T-34/85 is not necessary. Here is why:
First, historically, from 1941-1945 there're around 34000 T-34/76s produced, while only 22000 T-34/85s produced (Walter S. Dunn, Jr (2007). Stalin's keys to victory : the rebirth of the Red Army). So T-34/76 was actually the most numerous Soviet tanks produced in WW2, and the bulk of Soviet tank forces in the three most important battles of the war: Battle of Moscow, Stalingrad and Kursk . It can be said that the 76 was the tank that won the war, not the 85.
Second, about gameplay just a little more anti-infantry power for the T-34/76 should do it. This is very easy to do and required the least effort. No need for any big change, at all.
Your opinion? |
Yes, 3. Good players screen their opponent's build order first and then build the right stuff. Not everyone spams grens, ostrupps.
Anyways, maxims is absolutely useless against OST, it does have a chance against OKW however. And even then you need more than 2.
Hm... you're a good player? How about showing your player card?
|
Why? As Soviet you have call-in.
Сall-in. They can replace T4 in one degree or another.
Of course, no need for T-34/76 if you have T-34/85, IS-2, KV-8, Guards, Shocks etc etc.
But sometimes I just want to play Commanders without call-in . |
Unfortunately, any other medium tank copes with this task much better.
Problem is, you don't have them as Soviet , except for T-34/85 which is a doctrine unit.
Sorry, but I do not think that the loss unit for 300 mp (and 80 fuel) is easy loss. Especially considering need build three of the four you most expensive tier buildings. It's just not worth it.
You have to build all those tiers anyways.

T34/76 will no protect my SU and the Katy form shreks or PAKs or heavy nazi TD.
How about an Axis armors rush with Panthers, Panzer IVs etc?
As Soviet, you have plenty of other tools to deal with Shreks and Paks. |
People cry maxim spam when you beat them with it, and it doesn't matter whether it is 2 or 6 of them. It is a highly effective strategy, and with it I beat the number 1 ranked 1v1 OKW and OST players...
BTW - I don't build a single conscript when using maxims, and there is nothing stationary about this strategy. In fact, the more stationary you are the less powerful the build.
If you don't use Guards or AT-Partisan Commanders, you need Cons to support your army against Axis armors.
I personally think that you can defend your main maxim with a 2nd maxim so damn well that it's really hard and painful to push it away, which leads to the enemy trying to flank it on a longer and therefor slower way.
Yeah, especially in team games. IMO the Maxim is still one of the most reliable tools to control the Axis blobs of Death for Soviet mid late game. |
Or I could get a T-70 which is faster, cheaper, requires one less tier, and has better DPS against infantry.
And die in one volley from those Volk blobs or whatever late game. While at least the T-34/76 can survive, be a threat to infantry and support other tanks/tank destroyers against Axis heavies. |
There's no point at all to build T-34/76 when you have KV-1, KV-8, M-4C, T-34/85, IS-2, ISU-152, Shock Troops and Guards.
Now if you choose to play Commanders without those then T-34/76 is the only shock vehicle you can use late game. But don't be afraid, Comrades. You have in your hands the tank that won the Battle of Stalingrad AND the Battle of Prokhorovka - the biggest tank battle in history.
1vs1, the T-34/76 has more room to maneuver and prove its effectiveness even at late game. It can take some hits, crush infantry (sweet moment when you catch a lone harassing Ober squad), flank enemy heavies/protect your heavies and tank destroyers from being flanked etc etc.
2vs2+ (all Soviet), mix T-34/76s with Su-85s/Su-76s. At least you have a chance, or maybe two. |
