Thread: Dear Relic, can I have a word please? (Russian history)27 Jul 2013, 13:26 PM Just wonder what were they thinking in mission (7?) Stalingrad's cutscene, where "main hero" says: "In Stalingrad we had no choice. Fight or die. We fought because there was order 227". It's just makes me crazy, I barely hold myself to be respectfull right now. Thank you Relic to letting us know, that there was no other reasons for soldiers in Stalingrad to fight. Ive read a lot of different books about the eastern front. Both sides committed terrible crimes. Yet there was incredible bravery and heroism and kindness from both sides as well. War brings out the worst and best in humanity. Ive read stories about Wehrmacht officers having SS arrested for shooting civilians, German soldiers saving civilians from the rear echelon murder squads (einsatzgruppen) which had large contingents of osttruppen in them. Stalin didn't sign the Geneva Convention so Hitler did not feel bound by it when fighting the Russians. Neither side is blameless in the horror. Very true. And by the way, after war germans payed huge price for it. As man born in USSR I feel huge respect to your people after this war till now (you are from Germany as I understand). In fact, both our people believed in false leaders (no matter who was worse). The only thing that frustrates me - some third side that speculates for marketing. In: Lobby

I understand you feel guilty about that. One crime does not make another crime legal. There was alot of soviet propaganda, which increased the hate towards germans in general, making them be responsible for everything. Would you be so kind to give a link with some source about millions of killed german civilians by soviets? Patriotic Zeal, accepting your country is right beyond all doubt, is the first step towards making the same exact mistake. Can you see any zeal in my words? I've went through the whole topic and found only one person that can be discribed like you say. Most of people here as I can see - accepting the fact that USSR made terrible things. But campaign shows us only this side of the coin. And without explaining to people potential motives of some dids (founded concentration camps, burned villages, ,millions of dead, wounded) you will only see irrotional brutallity in soviet people. Yes they raped. But what would you do, after 4 years of pain, deaths and hell? What would you do after seeing a concentration camp in action?.. There is no good emotions to in this campaign compared to previous (including Wermacht). As was said before - you have a feeling of playing bastards in coh2. And something tells me that it was inteded for marketing purpuses to raise sellings in west. Interesting to see an information about sold copies of Coh2 during this noise in North America. In: Lobby
