Germany doesnt ban / censor games for "deciption of their culture" but for displaying of violence or National Sozialistic Symbols.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banned_video_games#Germany
They do ban such games. But they don't ban games about nazists - which is different, and separated by laws. Because Germany is not the same as faschists.
Soviet regime wasn't judged in any law after the war.
See the difference? |
@Curity:
Are people in Russia actually aware that the Red Army, as heroic as it was defeating the fascist thread, also may have commited some war crimes. Don't get me wrong this does not mean that individual soldiers of the Red army are more or less evil than soldiers of other nations. But the bigger an army is and the longer it participates in a war the more warcrimes there are.
I mean is the fact that there were warcrimes alongside the great heroism of the Red Army acknowledged in russian society? There was great heroism and sacrifice without question, but russian society should also deal with the dark side effects of such a revenge-driven conflict.
The whole world is aware that bad stuff happened and yet Russia and some CIS states seem to refuse to believe it. The majority of historians all over the globe acknowledges these darker facts about the Red Army.
I am not saying Relic's portayal was accurate. What I'm saying is that the world is aware that the Red Army commited warcrimes. And Russia should acknowledge that.
Which does not render the great heroism that was an unforgettable part of the Red Army less important. But mistakes have to be admitted. Otherwise you'll loose credibility. As I said before, in a coflict of that scale and with such a long timespan warcrimes are bound to happen. On both sides. I hope you know that. I hope you are not in denial.
Don't know abut Russia, but in Ukraine kids are studying about this war crimes. But.. lets say.. not so detailed.
Agree with you, everything has two sides, and good sources are those which are showing us both. |
You ask to be taken seriously and show soviet soldiers respect.. And then proceed to piss on every single soldier who did not share the nazi sentiment. Fine we can call them Axis forces, Ostheer or Wehrmacht, but please have the courtesy to be smart enough to not call them nazi.
By proxy, your own words could be reversed to call every single soviet soldier some really nasty things based on the actions of some. Naturally we'd just see more death threats from the internet army of people in the worlds smallest shoes, so let's refrain from that.
Dear sir, I ask you and everyone whom I insulted by using this word to forgive me.
I was using "nazists" word not to offend someone, but because of my bad English - I couldn't find a good word in time.
Im sorry for this again, will use "Axis forces". |
I didn't see Treyarch apologizing to Japan because they made them look like a bunch assholes in World At War. I didn't seem them qualifying it as fictional either.
Wanna know why? Because Japan isn't filled with a load of fuckwads.
Wanna know what else? Because it's widely accepted that that kind of thing happened. It's called artistic license. You take the truth and apply it to a fictional setting.
Historians have analysed the game and said it's accurate. Are you, an ignorant nationalist who has little more than a high school education AKA brainwash of the subject, more qualified than a Historian who has studied the subject for years of his life in a high standard extremely professional setting?
Apparently so.
Such a great example of civialized man.

I wouldnt care, because its a video game.
Then you are minority. Have you heard about Konami game about Iraq that was closed because of potential rage from americans? They lost a lot of money, but decided to close this project because most would find it offensive to USA army.
|
Game is based on a BOOK, it doest not have to reflect reality. The content that they promote as being historically accurate is the weaponry, maps and units that are involved. Would you 2 stop being butthurt and stop spamming with what you think is historically accurate just because it was taught in your ex-soviet schools. That'd be great.
"Would you be damn great to pay a bit of attention?
It's damn RELICS say the game plot is damn authentic! It's not the damn us, it's Relics!"
And please
Tell me, if you were.. let's say american. And some russian game studio creates a game about "second front", where american army (where you grandfather served) represented like stupids because of voice acting and dialogs, cowards who fight ONLY because of potential punishment, animals who kill surrendered men, burn civilians and overral discribed very negative. How would you react if your grandfather died in that war? Would you sit quiet while whole world will look at this crap?
No, you wouldn't, because you respect your family. And if you don't, you are unnormal. |
We ARE contributing constructive changes, damnit.
All we ask now goes to:
1. Make a disclaimer about the story being fictional
2. Make an official apology to the CIS player community.
I would say apology to war veterans either. |
It's a game not a history book. Now please you and your almost 3 friends leave the game if you don't like it and you are not willing to contribute with some constructive changes.
If the story in this game does not fit your subjective opinion about history don't cry on the forums.
Thanks.
No problem as soon as developers will put a desclaimer that this is a fiction, and stop to yell all over the world that this story is historically accurate and represents what really happened during this war.
Thank you to. |
@Morgengrad: Stalingrad, in terms of suffering, was on the part of the civilian population caught in the siege and the Germans encircled within the city. This was a turning point in the war where Soviet strategy finally brought to bear overwhelming force and composition in order to annihilate th3 spearhead of German advance in the SE. Soviet troops on the periphery of the city where well supplied, wheras the Germans, literally, died of exposure and hunger. This particular engagement shouldmhwve been represented differently, from a Soviet perspective, BUT Order 227 was still in force, and retreating, especially with such a mass of Sov forces in the backlines all around the perimeter of the city, would have been tantamount to suicide because you WOULD be caught.
How is that explains ingame words "We fought because there was order 227"? No doubt there was such order. No doubt some men were executed. But in game we see nonsense, and a conext that soldiers fough only because they were forced to.
And yes, it is very offensive when someone making money from selling fictional story about our grandfathers, with words like "It is a true story! It's based on soviet soldier's book!" There are a lot of books, and non of them are 100% accurate.
And by the way, everyone, please, stop always use "germans" - nazists were represented with lot of nations, and particulary in Stalingrad there were like 35% of germans and all other were from Bulgaria, Romania, Italy etc.
