This is not a very good move from SEGA. Why would they say they appreciate our pre-orders, so thats why we get earlier access. Now one day later they do this?! One day is early access?
Your pre-order earned you what you actually paid for - the game and the pre-order bonuses. And you'd rather feel special than own a better game? Because that's what a couple thousand extra testers for 3 weeks will get you. |
I agree with you that Shogun 2 was the most polished game at release, but seriously...there's so much life in Rome, even 8 years old. Hell even the vanilla game is still pretty good, and with mods like Europa Barbarorum or Roma Surrectum it's beating out newer TW games imo.
Medieval 2 was actually my first TW game, and I backtracked to Rome 1 and imo it was the far better game, despite the outdated graphics. |
If this were a 3 month long beta I'd agree with you. It sounds like 1 month. They need everyone they can get. |
It's looking really good so far, but upon hearing muh archae seleucia wouldn't receive the polish of a playable faction, I had to reinstall Rome 1.
I don't see the hate on Shogun 2. It was the best vanilla game since Rome imo. Empire was really unpolished, but mmmm those naval battles. Conversely I don't understand all the praise Napoleon gets, and Medeival 2 without mods is fairly meh. |
For some reason I feel critical feedback is more effective when you haven't already paid for the game. "Devs, unless you change these drastic design flaws, I'll, I'll..."
Don't get me wrong, I'd like to pre-order...but this isn't the way to get me to do so. |
Don't think so. Battle of the Bulge mod has that and the 1st thing people want to get rid of is presence based capping.
In the beginning you'll have a hard time figuring out how much presence is needed to secure a resource. And the sheer presence of a unit in an enemy sector will give it's position away because of the auto-capping.
BotB turns the entire territory sector into the capture point. That's not the same thing. |
I very much dislike adjustable game speed. In every game it's available (well, that's pretty much only AoE, SupCom, and EE for me) you have normal people playing on normal and competitive playing on fastest.
That might make it sound like it's easier for casual players to get into the game, but it also creates a huge hurdle for those casual players to jump into the competitive scene. We don't want that. |
That resource decision and penetration simplification...ooph.
Yeah it's unfortunate they don't seem to fully grasp the beauty of the vCoH resource system. They're trying to account for comebacks, but the vCoH team already took that into consideration. Regardless of map control or holding high points, you get a fixed amount of Manpower - which is really the most important resource. And if you get behind, you earn even more Manpower. There is 0 need for further tweaking to this system. |
You may need help |
My first, giddily optimistic impression was that this could mean the end of smurfing, drophacks, and NAT errors but after thinking about it further they're very unlikely to touch anything at that level
I'll still hope though |
