I agree, imo all HMGs should have Hold Fire option. This would not only prevent them to auto deploy, but also to not fire when deployed as soon as they see the enemy. The point is that it would allow you to let enemies a bit closer, denying them the chance to crawl out of suppression. |
It would mess up with tier selection since the battlegroup hq is a tech building
Tier selection?!? OKW can always build both the BG and the mechanized HQs, how else would they be able to call in KT? |
Since FRP was brought up, I gotta note that there has been tons of improvements for infantry preservation across all factions since I joined coh2 years ago:
(order of introduction might not be correct, also I may have missed a few additions)
Doctrinal:
+Soviets received Comissar for field healing
+Soviets received Airborne Rally point for reinforcement, healing and FRP!
+Ostheer 250 HT can reinfroce at vet1
+OKW opel blitz truck gained healing aura
+OKW has 223 scout car introduced with medikit drop
+British Glider HQ has medics now
Non-doc:
+Ostheer 251 HT gained the ability to heal troops inside
-(Ostheer had medikits removed on PGs)
+British medics available non-doc, and their buggy auto heal got replaced with heal aura
-(British medical upgrade got more expensive)
+Ostheer command and medic bunker ugrades can be combined
+Allied M5 (non-doc for soviets) and M3 (doctrinal) HTs can heal troops inside
+Ostheer medikits became cheaper
+OKW access to medics became cheaper
Now I wonder, are all pot holes gonna be filled eventually?
These are:
-No FRP for Ostheer at all
-Only one doctrinal FRP for soviets
-Soviets unable to heal howitzer crews
-Soviets unable to heal weapon teams on the field non-doc
-OKW unable to reinforce howitzer crews (unless put next to BG HQ)
-OKW limited to one forward reinforcement point non-doc
The latter two issues could be fixed imo by letting OKW players deploy multiple BG HQs (each has to be upgraded with medics individually). |
I thought it was public knowledge since Skippy featured it in his videos...
But yes, definitely a bug. |
Mainly Balance reasons. We discuss it and we couldn't agree of how would it work and it was a big concern that this unit will turn into overpower unit. It would require a lot of time and more than 1 patch to balance it proparely. For example as british emplacement it sohuld have brace for consistency. Brace in emplacement that can fire from half of the map would make it almost impossible to counter. It was consider as an alternative unit in advantance emplacement regiment. I guess we end with conclusion that it's bigger risk than reward.
As for the future we will have to see, but sadly i doubt that we gonna see a new unit.
I may not replay a lot on this forum but i can assure you that we do read most of those posts and yes, we discuss many of those topics in the meetings.
Thank you very much!
Yes, I agree that brace would be questionable on this unit. If it does get brace, then it would need to have a shorter range than other howitzers (but still longer than heavy mortar barrage), so the builder would be forced to put it close to the frontline. |
But..... this kind of use is completely unaffected.
Rifle nade is replaced with stick grenade for grens with G43 upgrade, much shorter range. |
The 25 pounder emplacement was discussed for this patch internally but rejected.
(cross quoted from the ostheer thread)
First of all I'm glad to hear it was considered.
May I know what was the reason it was rejected in the end? I mean is it a game issue, a bug that makes it unfit for vanila or was it just a balance issue? Is there a chance we may see it in one of the future patches? |
Smoke Bombs is only in 1 commander (Storm) after the update and it is the same CP value.
Really like the changes to Festung Armour Doctrine with a p4 model j with access to tactician and a hulldown that doesn't require infantry. Great changes, however, imo the commander is lacking any form of recon
How about putting stuka smoke bomb in Festung Armour, in place of panzer tactician? It provides both smoke and recon in a single package. |
Jaegar armor will still picked to oblivion even after receiving endless changes as long as its the best elefant commander. Add elefant on other commanders/ buff the 2nd elefant commander or just delete the elefant to promote diversity.
Jager Armor: 3 recon options, slightly improved infantry, ele
Fortified Armor: 1 recon, the improved CP4, panzer smoke, ele and hull down, which is very good now (hull down panthers are cheap alternative to ele)
Fortified Armor looks pretty fancy to me now. |
I'm not really a fan of it either, though it was a decision made for the 1v1 crowd which I don't really get involved in (other than making sure changes won't affect teamgames too much) because I never play that mode. Although it seems to me that any solution is going to be inconsistent. Ambush camo upgrade suddenly replacing their Faust with a lower range version doesn't make much sense either and that would also be an exception (it gives nothing special to PGrens and HMGs etc.).
The concerns from players here have been noted though so we're having another look at it.
Thank you!
I had a more radical idea in the lines of combining the G43 upgrade with camo for grens, it would be a bigger upgrade similar to the pschreck upgrade for fusiliers which may varrant the removal of the faust on these squads. Tho I haven't fleshed out this path but I drop it anyway as part of a possible solution.
Personally I would be ok with the camo upgrade being completely removed for grens if needed for the sake of consistency, but I still think JCS, as a limited to one squad, should keep it. |
