WC51 is broken and should nerfed.
The WC-51's balance belongs to a separate thread, tho I must add this WC would arrive only at CP 2 or 3, already having a setback compared to the USF WC.
The point is that the bundle with the WC would be cheaper, more unique (as we no longer get a stock unit) and would hold more late game utility with munition investment. |
The m3 has the "medical supplies" ability which M5 does not. I can provide both reinforcement and healing and since there are allot of people complaining about soviet healing it M3 would be unique and useful.
The USF M3 sounds interesting too with it's healing capacity, but it would be guaranteed to pretty much lock assault guard amount to 1 per game. At least with the current M5 HTs you can keep one for reinforcing and convert the rest to quads.
I still say the WC-51 is a better choice if we are going for the replacement solution. |
lets not forget how bad ostruppen call in is. I think they deserve guaranteed lmg(at least for one unit) or reduced cp requirement
Perhaps the only ability left in the game that randomizes equipment. 1 guaranteed lmg sounds reasonable.
(Maybe I would even go as far as to make the other squad an AT squad, equipped with a pair of panzerbüchses, but no panzerfaust and weapon slots. Perhaps able to deploy schu mines instead.) |
Looking at how the vote distribution is around 50-50%, I'm starting to like the solution of replacing the M5 HT with an unique vehicle, most likely with the WC-52 dodge truck. Similar to its USF counterpart it would be a pseudo command vehicle, having access to offmap arty which would make it somewhat useful in late game as well. CP should be reduced to 2 and the price of the bundle adjusted to keep the ability balanced.
If the intent is to keep Assault Guards a non spam-able unique CQC unit, something similar to how UKF will be able to train only one Assault Officer, then I can live with it, but offer a vehicle in the bundle that is equally interesting. Currently the bundle feels like that you want to buy Assault Guards, but you are also forced to buy the stock HT too. You may want to have the M5 too sometimes, but not always, the focus is on the guards. With an unique vehicle you might want to have both parts of the bundle equally. |
I think it need some sort of offmap ability. Id be fine if panzer tac was switched to arty call in like light barrage or at strafe.
The command puma would most likely have an off-map call, similar to the okw panzer commander upgrade. |
On theme however as a worl around would be having them with 6 garands (also a good gun, but actually designed around having a number of them firing at a time)and giving guards the flexibikity to upgrade as they please- zooks, maybe a 2xBAR or bar +M1919 combo? Or thompsons.
I have looked up and it seems that the soviets didn't receive any M1 garands. The soviet Lend lease small arms include: M50 Reising (not in the game), Thompson, Bren, Bazooka and Piat. |
Keep it as is.
There are other "sub-optimal" unit call-ins similar to this. In Lend-lease, the only way to get Guards is by also getting an (unwanted) M5-HT. In German mechanized and Mech Assault, the only way to get a 250-HT is by getting an (unwanted) Gren/Pgren squad.
I'm okay with the wehrmacht 250 HT call ins. You use it to get the 250 HT of which you would usually need only one. Plus you would use it in early game, so that extra squad doesn't hurt.
The guards assault group on the other hand is primary used to get the assault guards of which you may want to have more than 1. |
Lend lease has the conscript repair kit passive. Could give it T4 assault guards without mentioning in the text.
That's a genius solution! |
That would be a good solution too, but afaik it's not possible to make an ability slot a call-in and a passive too at the same time. |
While I voted for the command puma solution, I would also recommend to take a look at the BP reshuffle idea, as Lago suggested, which I equally like:
