3 squads of zook rangers? Thats like 30 pop and 450 munitions. One does not simply get and maintain 3 zook ranger squads.
Anyway, you can upload replays here: https://www.coh2.org/replay
Then put the link in the OP. |
G43 storms are about as good as the G43 panzergrens, they don't even have nuke nades. Instead one should use their booby traps often as the doctrine doesn't have any muni sinks. |
But there is also ram + precision bombing, pretty much the same thing. |
Commandos and Stormtroopers are similar, but they still have their distinctive fields they shine in. Commandos are for general ambushing and can double as a strong frontline assault squad with brens. They are meant to face any kind of enemy squads at any ranges.
Storm on the other are only effective at close and are not always advised to be used against other cqc squads. BUT, using their tactical assault ability, they can wipe team weapons and rifle squads much faster than any other squads ever could (not counting grenades). Storms are also more cost efficient at disrupting supplies and destroying fortifications. While commandos have to place expensive demo charges for that purpose, the storms can use their lava nades and reusable schreck to do the job. The same schreck can come handy on the frontline too and don't forget their vehicle detection ability, which is perhaps best used at hunting enemy artillery vehicles behind the enemy lines. Even with only 3 mp40s the storms can fulfill their ambush role just fine. On the other hand, you don't see commandos with piats very often. |
Storms are fine as they are. If a change is needed, then I would replace 1-2 of their weapons with Sturmpio Stg 44s (similar damage at close, but longer effective range) with veterancy, somewhat bringing back the old storms. But again, it's not necessary, they fulfill their close range ambush and supply chain breaker role fine, plus they can get AT too. |
There is one issue to implement this. Buildable entities (which includes mines) have their own requirements, which are unrelated to the squad. It can only require global settings on player level, not on squad level.
I'm sad to hear that. But their audio cue clearly mentions mines ('panzerschreck und mines'), how did that work? What was the original implementation of the sturmpios like?

The teller mine solution would turn the schreck Sturmpios into a dedicated AT squad without buffing their direct AT capabilities (I mean without buffing the schreck or giving them an another one).
Getting an another pio squad to access teller mines, especially with plenty of munitions floating, is an option I'm sure even top players would consider. |
Just why? Stormtroopers get their schreck for 60 muni, but they also have camo by default for suprise attacks and they get vehicle detection ability as well. Sturmpioneers get winter coats against blizzards, which hasn't been a factor in ranked matches for a long time (and I rarely ever see cold tech being enabled in custom games). It also locks out the sweepers.
A commonly suggested solution is allowing them to have both the schreck and the sweeper, but maybe there could be other solutions too, like granting them access to teller mines (their audio clue suggests that they get access to mines) to enhance the AT role. |
sounds like he's getting outplayed to me. As soon as I read pak howi and .50 in the same game. Nope, that means this guy got an lt and a cpt, which I don't see very often. Typical OST thing to do is find some resources and camp on it until brumbar/p4. So, pak howi is supposed to be used on static positions. Sounds like you just don't want your opponent to have anything effective against you, which would be a pretty boring game.
Guys, ever heard of Airborne Company doctrine and it's access to .50 cal drop? |
To reduce the panicy nature of the ostheer puma, maybe instead of a call-in it should remain a buildable vehicle in T2 at CP5, but without the BP2 requirement.
Or take a step further and do something that no other doctrinal abilities do at the moment (if possible): the puma would be a side tech that can be unlocked in T2, similar to the british AEC. Basicly you spend some extra fuel to get access to pumas, but doing so delays the arrival of tanks for the ostheer player. This would bring some extra risk into picking and using pumas. |
