Please test things before making claims like this. In the latest version it can do up to 80% damage on a Panzer IV.

It can do very similar damage to Stuka AT Strafe now. It'll do a bit less, but comes in faster.
80% damage to p4 is still joke, chances you going to hit tank in first place are next to zero unless it's rammed, snared and you're playing on small map and even then you're not even killing P4, by the time you'll get this offmap chances are you're already fighting against elefants and panthers.
That strafe is as useless as CAS AT strafe. |
Maybe I am incorrectly expressed, but I am talking about this: replace the IL-2 strafe on the PTAB strike from the “tank hunt” commander.

I keep hearing about the weakness of the rocket strafe. Okay, here's a question, though. How much health should it be able to strip away from tanks?
We might change it out, but how deadly should it be against tanks given its 100 munition price tag and quick call-in? This is not the much slower IL-2 bombing run which excels against stationary targets but also costs considerable more.
Is that thing supposed to be used against tanks? It clearly bad against them to the point it's better used against infantry and besides there is already an ability that does exactly the same thing you want - PTAB?
Why tunnel vision on strafe that does not work, you cant make it strong for 100 munitions and weak strafes are useless - CAS commander, usf tactical support and advanced warfare are proof of that.
Why bother trying to make it into a PTAB when you can just give PTAB instead. |
A few notes:
I was fine with the sov rocket strafe being similar to frag bombs (good against infantry, pretty meh against tanks). It seems to still have decent performance against infantry, and should have alright performance against tanks. Im fine with this design too (being mediocre-decent AT and AI), and im sure getting the ability right will just come down to more number tuning.
This commander has no endgame, and is looking quite meh compared to other new commanders.
Skillshot plane dealing crappy damage to anything is something nobody would want for soviets especially when alternatives are IS-2 with loiter and ISU with bomb runs, this is gonna be NKVD-tier commander without good offmaps |
Rocket strafe is still useless, it needs to be replaced by either bombing run or PTAB, buffing it from 120 to 160 does not change anything about it.
PPSh Guards are straight up bad shocks now, would've been better if smoke grenade was removed and upgrading PPSh gave squad oorah instead
Also 6 man repair station is broken and will be abused to hell and back in team games, especially if one considers amount of goodies commander has on top of it, especially on maps with buttload of stone buildings, soviet ones are brittle and easily destroyed even by infantry |
The ability already has synergy with ram. You ram then fire rockets.
Imo medium tank use should be encouraged instead of the Infantry/TD spam and being able to stop a flank on one of these TD with cheap call-in planes would be a step in the wrong direction.
You ram then fire rockets that do nothing, so you lose 100 munitions and a t-34 to achieve... what exactly?

Tbh after Guards got pinning strafe it was destined to become deprecated anyway, since it mostly was used against infantry before. PTAB is probably most useful Soviet offmap ability in game but it stuck on most useless and memey commander and sees no play because of that.

IL-2 Rocket strafe is horrible after patch, that thing does like maybe 30% hp damage to stationary P4 even if it hits it perfectly, it dont think it can even kill a flak halftruck with its rockets, the only use of these rockets before was killing of support weapons and dealing with blobs
Right now its more like - you deal a 30% damage of IL-2 PTAB run to vehicles for 60% of the cost and it does next to nothing against infantry. It was okay-ish pre-nerf (assuming you DONT actually use it against tanks), but after it's became a joke.

meanwhile in Weh CAS commander : stuka AI strafe take 1 slot(60muni)
USF Tactical support commander : P47 strafe take 1 slot(125muni)

Those are offmaps, Guard one has 40 range and requires CP3 high cost MP unit vetted to be usable, you might as well cry about Wehr artillery officer using same logic |
