T-34 ram+IL-Strafe is super strong and took out mulitple tigers in a high level game!
And about 6 men Assgrens: upgrade cost 60 mun, comes after teching for battlephase 2 and the unit is still worse than soviet Shocks! I mean what do you want=? Assgrens sucked for years and now after some minor buffs they are finally useful and you still complain.
Shocks dont sprint, Shocks dont have grenade assault, Shocks dont come out at CP0
Ram + strafe is stupid gimmick that works only if enemy misplays on small maps it is useless on large map with plane delay and PTAB and bombing run can do *exactly* same thing but they dont do 35% damage to tiger, they would kill it outright |
Miragefla seems to think this commander is already too good, thats the only realistic reason for not replacing this ability by something actually useful. The issue here isnt rocket strafe, it's balance team with their unconventional ideas about commander balance aka sprinting fusiliers with schrecks and 6 man assgrens |
Whats the point of SVT in crates? Penal PPSh is downgrade as their vet makes cqc suicidal and they have no abilities to support it, CE SVT is worse than flamer, only unit really benefiting from them are Conscripts, why not just make it Conscript upgrade?
Those crates would just become annoyance, you could also troll axis player with them assuming they dont know what they picking up |
Does Soviet AT strafe deal damage to enemy buildings? CAS AT strafe actually does significant damage to brit emplacements. Can Soviet AT strafe be used same way against bunkers and OKW trucks? |
I tested it. The first rocket of the soviet strafe hits the ground 1 full second before the first round of the AT CAS strafe (5 seconds vs 6 seconds, about 200 distance from the edge of the map). Both last about 3 seconds until the full payload is delivered. The rocket strafe seems to benefit more from being dropped at the absolute edge of the map, shaving off another second (4 seconds before impact), while the AT CAS strafe stays at around 6 seconds.
The rocket strafe seems to have about the same time of impact as the CAS suppression strafe now.
I personally consider that to be fair.
Would be fair if this commander had some endgame armor, as of now it provides literally zero scaling into lategame. Why would anyone pick this over Isu+guards+bombing strike or IS-2+shocks+incendiary arty? Infantry is a cannon fodder by the end of the game and that commander has only infantry and support weapons with FRP, perfect combo to receive stukas and werfers into face. |
I've watched that game, all I've seen is mindless blobbing from Axis and afk-tier micro with tigers, which would've died to su-85 and at gun fire after ram anyway. And with 2 second delay those strike would've never hit anything in first place.
P.S. So rocket strike hitting afk/stunned tigers for 30% damage in health was determined to be OP compared to sprinting 5 man 2 schreck piss-cheap blobs and 6 man assgrens who have shock-tier survivability and can take on rangers and couple squads of BARmen after sprinting up and nuking nearby support weapons, really? |

This was only usable on small maps before nerf, on all 4v4 maps and chunk of 2v2's plane already was too slow to ever hit anything unless you used it near the edge of the map
Now it's utterly worthless on any maps that are larger than 1v1 in size. CAS commander has similar strafe, with 1.5 sec delay, I've never seen it hit anything in my life after it received delay, even on small maps

Yep, Sov is utterly screwed in 4v4 if it becomes arty fest, you're completely dependent on usf/ukf not being brainlets and selecting priest/sexton commanders to counter artillery spam. ML-20 might as well not exist with amount of recon+offmaps Ost has, Katys constantly getting wrecked by random LeFH barrages, its only matter of time before lucky shot connects.
One would expect new Sov commander have recon + offmap considering it's theme but nope, it gets no recon and bad version of PTAB
One has to wonder what lelic employees smoked when they desingned those Ost commanders, someone must've pointed out that insanely imbalanced to give each faction similar howitzers but have only 1 faction access to swarm of recon+offmap commanders while leaving other with nothing |
If SVTs are not powerful enough they could use Volks MP40 treatment - RA bonus and a crappy grenade instead of molotov bundled in along with SVT |
What if the IL-2 Precision bombing strike was put in instead of ptab or the rocket strafe?
It's a good utility ability that can knock out howitzers or specific emplacements, but not so cheap that it can be spammed. It's also not super common as far as commander abilities go.
I actually thematically like the idea of the rocket strafe but it does seem somewhat tedious to use. Who knows how it will be in actual games tho, especially in team games where units get clustered up (I'm thinking of the 420IQ players who keep 2-3 rocket arty halftracks together).
As for SVT drop, can CEs get flamer + svt drop or are the two mutually exclusive?
PTAB can be used the same way as bombing run, deals roughly same damage to buildings and howitzers. |
