Thread: Jackson Nerf vs Making Panther Doctrinal2 Nov 2019, 06:25 AM So I had this thought after reading all this screeching over the Jackson in recent threads and there was some talk about reverting to Jackson to it's trash pre-2018 state. So if you did that, what if the Panther was then made doctrinal? I mean why isn't it anyway? Panzer IV already out classes standard Shermans, T34s and Cromwells? OST already can spam AT guns and panzerschreks (all of which Jacksons are useless against by the way), plus it's got cheap Stugs so do they even need Panthers? Does OKW? They have have mini-Jacksons in the form of Pumas plus an even better Panzer IV and non-doc King Tiger. Allies have to have doctrines for better mediums except perpetually nerfed Brits. Of course, I agree that if you want to nerf the jackson then you'll have to deal some kind of buff to the other AT options so they can reliably deal with an OKW P4. It's not viable to nerf the Jackson. USF was complete trash prior to it's health buff. Guess what you'd have to do to balance things out if you significantly nerfed the Jackson? You'd have to make the Panther doctrinal. The autistic screeching from Wehraboos would be deafening. But why shouldn't the Panther be doctrinal anyway? Allied premium mediums are mostly doctrinal and OKW still has the friggen King Tiger. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: My Proposal to change Allied TDs2 Nov 2019, 06:05 AM There is nothing wrong with the Jackson. My eyes want to roll to the back into my head everytime some Wehraboo whines about it. It is the easiest vehicle to counter. The only "problem" it has is Wehraboos feel entitled to just call out their heavy armor and stomp everything but the Jackson stands in the way of that (as it should). This is the only unit USF has that isn't overpriced except maybe the post-buff Riflemen. Literally one AT gun can counter it. All it really needs to to revert the 5 fuel nerf that only was placed there because of entitled Wehraboo whining. In: COH2 Balance

It is not worthless nor pointless, it is overshadowed by Opness... You'd love that wouldn't you? The E8 wouldn't "shine" just because you make other units trash. The E8 just sucks against infantry for a medium tank. Give it WP shells and let it alternate between those and it's existing shells. That would make it kind of like the regular M4A3 but with a more unique ability. The E8 is the only Sherman variant that doesn't have alternate ammo types for it's main gun unless you count the Firefly but that gets tulips. In: COH2 Balance

MG42: all around very good. MG34: weaker in every way to compensate for OKW having better infantry. M2HB .50 cal: more expensive HMG that can damage light vehicles while still being very powerful vs infantry. Only major downside compared to an MG42 is that it’s more expensive. Vickers HMG: better damage, worse suppression, no anti vehicle ability but can shoot farther when in a garrison. Trades utility against light vehicles for better area denial when combined with a garrison or trench when compared to the MG42. 1910 Maxim HMG: faster set up time and with a more durable 6 man team, the Maxim is meant to trade firepower for mobility and survivability to allow it to be used more aggressively. (Death loop bug kinda destroys this, but that’s not by design. Hence the current Maxim is considered by many to be up and has been changed a lot in an attempt to normalize it.) 1938 DShK HMG: the only doctrinal only HMG is similar to the USF M2HB in its role as an HMG that can also threaten light vehicles, but is locked to only a handful of Soviet doctrines. (Honestly I couldn’t tell you which one is better on paper, but they are pretty comparable in their intended roles.) Back on topic, the Cromwell does suck though. I’d like to see it’s MGs get a damage boost so it can be more like a T-34/76 in its utility, but without ram and a bit better vs medium tanks. When you're playing EZ mode v1 you have the MG42 is a starting unit despite the fact it can pin 4 sqauds at once, despite the fact it's only 260 MP, despite the fact it is available in addition to a sniper and mortar with in the first minute of the game. It is OP as hell. The only faction that can deal with it reasonably well is Soviets because of the Scout Car everyone wants to nerf all the time. EZ mode V2 doesn't have an MG42 but the MG34 is basically the samething just slightly worse on suppression. Basically the way EZ mode v2 is setup where the MG isn't available until t2 is how the MG42 should be. In: COH2 Balance

UKF you'd think should be able build bunkers too. They are definitely out classed by OST. MG42s (probably the most all around OP unit in the game) are highly punishing to UKF as are the cheese Assault Grens. In: COH2 Balance

Now only if Tank Hunter sections were bundled as an upgrade too. The best adaption of the British meta I've seen by spectating ladder game and casts is: Tatical support or Vanguard operations. Tatical support grants dirt cheap AT guns and Mortars and skillplane call ins later. Vanguard support grands commandos and croc in the same doctrine alberit at a massive cost. It also has a skillplane callin that can actually match Axis skillplanes. Commandos aren't even viable in Vanguard Operations because of the stupid glider requiring a huge cost to call in, then you are forced to get an ALO, then after that you have to keep the glider alive which isn't easy since you cannot repair it and it dies very quickly. If you want infantry that suffers for no reason, have a look at Grens. But finally, the brits have no counter to Lvs aside from the AEC? By that you mean the single best counter to Lvs in the entire game? My heart is breaking for having such pitiful options to deal with light vehicles. I'm getting sick of this whinning over Grenadiers. They are only a 240 MP unit but they can and do go toe-to-toe with much more expensive units and with 3 or more you can murder anyone else's mainline blobs. In: COH2 Balance

The USF player out plays and out maneuvers the OKW player the whole game but then the OKW player just right clicks a Tiger and wins the game. And you wonder why OST is EZ mode version 1 and OKW is EZ mode version 2. What a bunch of b.s. I have never once seen an Allied faction get out played so badly then call in a super unit to win at the last minute. I've seen it and done it myself with Axis a few times however. In: COH2 Balance
