Well I voted:
1 - OKW because they start off with shock infantry and a really good mainline infantry thats way cheaper than your opponents unless your talking about conscripts that easily lose to your Volks everytime. Plus no side techs. They dominate in pretty much every stage of the game.
2 - OST because they have no side techs no risky teching everything is cheap and available, they've got stronger late game units than what's available to the Allied factions. As long as you know the maps well you can dominate early on with the rediculous MG42. If you're a noob with this faction It'll be tougher but once you get the hang of they'll dominate. OKW is still better and easier which is why you see them more in tournaments, why take a risk on OST when OKW is so much better? Doesn't make OST bad at all though.
3 - Soviets, because they've got the only good tech tree on the Allied side and some decent starting units. Stock armor late game sucks unless you pick an IS2 or T34/85 doctrine.
4 - USF way more risky to play and harder to come back from mistakes than other factions. The Jackson buffs and Riflemen buffs have helped a lot but USF still requires more intense micro than other factions. It does have a good armor suite both, light and medium, plus the Jackson is the best TD in the game (for now, unless the Wehraboos get their way). The down side though is everything is really expenisve and teching is not easy and often risky.
5 - UKF easily the hardest and weakest faction right now. The repeated and merciless nerfs over the last few patches have done a number on UKF. Basically they need a mobile mortar and more infantry options stock. Or just revert a couple of the nerfs, I don't know they need something though. Comet is in a pretty good spot though. Churchill was over nerfed. |
Grens are a damn good unit. You know why?
They only cost 240 MP
Their MG42 only costs 60 munitions
Their panzerfaust is immediately available and there are no side techs required to unlock any abilities. This unit is one of the best bargains in this whole damn game. |
Basically you'd have to make the Lend-Lease commander abilities and units stock to balance UKF the way it is now. But my question is this: UKF hasn't been great for a long time, they were hardly used in the previous tournament before this last one. So why the hell did they go ahead and nerf Infantry Sections and Bofors? What sense did that make? I mean if UKF was so good and unfair why weren't they used in the last couple tournaments?
The faction as it is now feels like it's designed for support of USF and Soviets in multiplayer games and not for 1v1 games since so much is missing from their roster. |
USF is the strongest? LOL! I mean it's good but it's harder to play than OKW and is the most unforgiving. |
The HMG42 is by far the most broken thing in the game and it's been that way since forever. But there is no desire to really change it so it's just something you have to live with.
It's always going to take way more effort to dislodge an MG than set one up so as long as OST is going to continue to get it right off the bat at bargain prices you're going to be at a huge disadvantage at the start of the game especially as UKF and USF. |
I don't know why it should be any different than the M3 Halftrack. Just make it T0 and buildable from the infantry barracks after teching to LT and CPT, or one of those two plus the vehicle side tech. |
Riflemen say hi
LOL no Riflemen are not assault troops. Assault Engeeners are like (crappy) assault troops. |
HMG are available for every faction. Stock Assault troops aren't.
I do agree UC is pretty much a top pick for every Brit build order now.
Come to think of it, Wehrmacht and OKW are the only two with stock assault troops, unless you want to count Penals but I wouldn't. |
The fundumental problem with UKF is they lack units. They just have so few units to work with especially with regards to infantry, they really only have either Infantry Sections or Commandos and commandos are doctrinal so that's why Infantry Sections had to be so good because if they weren't, you'd never survive beyond the 10 minute mark.
Personally I still feel like they should do maybe one of two things:
Make the air landing officer a non-doctrinal 5 man sqaud limited to one unit on the field at a time similar to USF officers but not free, buildable with after teching to Company Command Post.
Or, create a 5 or 6 man British Airborne sqaud using the model for the ALO and arm them with Enfields allowing an upgrade to either 4 thompsons or 2 Bren Guns with better damage stats. |
I'm just wondering since there is an inordinate amount of complaining about it. I play mostly USF with UKF here and there, it's rare I play any other factions. I usually build at least one of these and they aren't bad but they are no where near the best MG and no where near as good as an MG42.
They say it sets up faster than anyother MG but that's not true. The MG42 has been setup and in place for like 5 minutes before you can even start building a .50 cal since it's behind tech. I'll agree it tears down and retreats faster.
The .50 also has a pretty narrow arch and can be flanked fairly easy since it doesn't suppress as well. The other thing I've noticed is the crew are really weak and die pretty fast. Not sure if durability increases if you were to recrew one with Riflemen or say Rangers.
Anyway, very overrated unit or at least one people shouldn't be whinning about since it's hidden behind tech and costs more than any other MG in terms of MP and pop (which it really shouldn't, at least not compared to the MG42). I hope it doesn't get nerfed again mean while nothing is ever done about the MG42. |
