If cloak anywhere raks are addressed I think Obers will be less of an issue. They are designed to be dominant infantry so using vehicles against them of any sort should be the way to go true... ive found that the retreating cloaking rakaten is just simply too cheesy and too good to the point that it negates the lategame soviet armor advantage... maybe just turn it to a cheaper pak 40 clone with 50 range (but providing green cover)... but until then the soviets can never compete in the lategame without doctrines... Just learn better strategies to deal with them. Make artillery do bonus damage to snipers, as this was the traditional way of dealing with them. uhhh COH 1 sniper meta was pure cancer.... one could simply run a sniper blob and wipe entire armies out of existence.... Thread: the problem with soviet lategame14 Dec 2018, 17:52 PM Jump back to quoted post14 Dec 2018, 17:30 PMmurky depths I'm going to avoid the argument and instead focus on the point that I noticed brought up -- that soviet troops tend to lose to LMG wielding untis like grens or obers. For what it's worth, the overwhelming majority of their firepower comes from their LMG, which is only effective when they're stationary, so having even a single point of indirect to cause movement (or nades, or whatever else) is a huge debuff to their offensive ability. If you run vet 3 penals into vet 3 grens with LMG, there's a good chance you'll drop models before you even begin the engagement proper, and at that point you're at a disadvantage. For that reason it's best to not take that engagement and instead force them to adapt to what's favorable to you. I realize this advice is useless if the enemy is in defensive footing and is able to counter your own counters (Wehrmacht mortar counter-barring, etc.) but it's something worth trying depending on circumstance. The other thing is to use smoke to cover your approach, so that when the shooting starts you'll already be barrel stuffing them. Again, situational at best, but it's stuff that's helped me. that is until the smoke clears and the mg42 waves, causing all my soldiers to fall prone for fear of brutal German Greetings. yeah grens vs penals is a bit more even... penals at least hold the line enough for indirect fire to seal the deal... but obers just blow penals out of the water clean... simply because they can fire on the move with an lmg and have ridiculous dps actually imo penals scale relatively well vs ostheer...grens still outclass them but mortars and flamethrowers can even the indifference... its OKW thats a bitch to deal with without shocks or guards In: COH2 Balance

Besides the point late game soviet vehicles maybe good but rakatens greatly nullify this advantage... unless rakatens are turned into a proper AT gun instead of a gimmick sov lategame armor will be shutdown with relative ease... Which proves you've never played them, go play all factions and that will teach you where you are weak, as soviet players will crush you when you play OKW, having never played it before obviously. rakatens cloak when they are out of combat and in yellow or green cover... and i have played as okw and obers + rakaten is an extremely tough combination for them to solve without relying on doctrinal units like the ISU KV-2 shocks or guards... The aa halftrack is amazing at supression, SU-76 destroys blobs as well as katushya. the AA HT is extremely vulnerable to rakatencheese... the SU-76 is only really useful vs a blob or static targets... and the katyusha creates alot of yellow cover that makes obers more resistant to suppression...only shocks and guards can counter obers efficiently Jump back to quoted post14 Dec 2018, 06:24 AMNaOCl If he is raketening your katushya, then you're doing something wrong, there is also AI loiters in a bunch of the doctrines. It seems like you want OKW to have nothing, as they don't have vehicles that are good at AI late game, compared to soviets. its not the katy that gets rakatened... its this gay arse tactic of spotting with the IR truck advancing with rakatens or some infantry... decloaking and firing forcing my T-34 back to repair... then running immediately before the katyusha kills it... the katyusha is now reloading and the T-34 had a large chunk of its health cut off forcing it to repair...after that penals simply melt due to obersoldaten... its not like the T-34 was heavily armored like a P4 or a brummbar or long ranged like a scott... also the 238 armor OKW P4 is currently the best non doctrinal medium tank ingame...one or if not the best rocket arty ingame... its not OP nor broken... nor is OKW OP outside of the SWS bug (which as of the moment is gamebreakingly stupid)... but okw does have lategame vehicle AI... Also, I main soviets, although I play the other 4 also. OKW is what I play most for Axis, they're definitely not op. They lack lots of tools which are quite easily exploited. The loss of certain units can spell GG for them very early. Also, t-70 is your friend mid game. i never said OKW infantry is OP... nor did i say OKW was OP... I use it primarily to punish blobbing team weapons or Rifles. Even then if you want to really wipe squads the Gren rifle nade still exists and require no commander. 200 muni IL-2 runs should wipe squads aswell... but its alot slower in comparison and only really useful vs static or slow targets In: COH2 Balance
