Thread: Getting out of builds6 Jun 2020, 01:56 AM Jump back to quoted post5 Jun 2020, 23:36 PMBaba you mean dragging in a direction with rightclick? exiting a building is being achieved by pressin d + leftclick. no dragging here i usually select the squad inside (click the building then TAB) and leftclick to some point outside where i want the squad to be. dragging the mouse could happen in this case and maybe mess up the command. but i rarely ever experience squads refusing to exit with this method tbh In: COH2 Bugs

Thread: Reworking 'Brace'4 Jun 2020, 17:37 PM Jump back to quoted post4 Jun 2020, 17:19 PMColonel0tto Might be a bit off topic, but does the current pen profile of the Stuka make it disproportionately bad against armoured infantry (i.e. shock troops) as well? i don't think so. afaik artillery projectiles behave like ballistic projectiles in the sense that they can't 'connect' with the hitbox of infantry. and since there is no accuracy roll that could otherwise result in a natural hit they can't score a direct hit but only deal aoe damage. hence, aoe penetration will be in effect at all times so the rockets will always deal full damage to infantry. now i could be wrong of course and since i can't check it myself atm better take this with a grain of salt. Thread: Katy 's "Creeping Barrage" ability4 Jun 2020, 04:18 AM Jump back to quoted post1 Jun 2020, 15:00 PMApplejack Maybe its alternating between the high accuracy rocket weapon and the low accuracy rocket weapon? sadly it doesn't. on top of the regular barrage's scatter you get an additional 6 x 8 m scatter from the target box for each of the 4 rocket salvos (or 30 x 8 m for the full barrage). compared to that, the priest's creeping barrage projectile has no scatter at all, meaning all projectiles are guaranteed to land inside the target rectangle (20 x 8 m box). now you can of course argue the katy is good enough already to discourage any further buffs, but i think something should be done to make the creeping barrage at least worth its cost. It turns out that AOE does not share the base penetration stat but has its own AOE penetration stats. It seems that for most weapons, AOE penetration is the same as the base penetration. For the Stuka rockets however, the AOE penetration is very high which is why near misses can deal major damage to tanks (vehicles) and emplacements while direct hits only deal a small amount of deflection damage. So to correct myself: AOE does not ignore armor, but specifically the Stuka's AOE ignores the armor of the Mortar Pit and most vehicles because it has very high AOE penetration values. While direct hits only deal deflection damage because it has 0/0/0 regular penetration. this is very odd indeed. iirc the vast majority of similar sized arty projectiles have guaranteed pen on direct hit (i.e 1,000 pen) and lower aoe penetration instead. kind of strange that the stuka has no chance to deal full damage if it connects directly - which is clearly a drawback against emplacements and other targets with large hitboxes. anyone knows if this has always been like this or, if not, the motivation behind the change? It adds a grand total of 1.5 penetration at minimum range and .5 at maximum for a total of 4.5 and 1.5 respectively. I have talked about the vet 3 penetration being basically worthless for a long time and have no idea why it hasn't been changed to an additive bonus at the very least (maybe make it a flat +2 penetration bonus for a total of 5/4/3 instead of 4.5/3/1.5) Otherwise it's fine. It's really not a bad unit combat-wise, and its' USF's best tool against Ostheer snipers. this. it's by no means a no-brainer to get in every game but i've been using it to great effect vs early snipers. plus the mines can be game changing as said above. i wouldn't mind seeing the build time nerf partially reverted, but apart from arriving maybe a tad bit too late the m20 is fine in my opinion. i'd also refrain from changing the skirt upgrade to require mp/fu instead since, right now, it at least forces you to decide between an early mine or the survivability boost. Thread: [Preview] Towards quantifying AoE alpha damage3 Jun 2020, 13:41 PM great work and very informative post. also interesting and kind of reassuring to see you seem to have gotten pretty similar results with your approach like i did using the scatter sim. looking forward to see the wrap-up for the tight formation as well. one thing i was wondering is if you could tweak your code to produce an average for the received alpha-damage for each individual squad members? this might be easier to grasp and compare than the percentages of shots passing a certain damage threshold. anyway, i'm certain this will become a valuable addition to the coh2 toolset. congrats! Thread: Medium tanks - Review1 Jun 2020, 08:13 AM It might be hard to notice for single shots, but due to the way probabilities add up even small changes can make a difference. Think of it this way: The target size reduction gives roughly a 10% lower chance to be hit on average. This may not seem to matter too much at first, but if you consider the chance to be 4-shotted (or two-shotted by the dreaded double pak combo) the chances of this happening will be ~ 35% lower (1-0.9^4 = 0.656) than before. So assuming you had a 50/50 chance of losing your tank vs. two, well-placed paks before the patch, the chances are now roughly 33/66 in your favor. Ofc scatter hits are unaffected by this change and will still happen with the same probability, so the real survivability gain will be a bit lower, as Hannibal pointed out already. Nonetheless, it can make a difference! In: COH2 Balance
