Thread: Overwatch Ability Poll15 Jan 2019, 13:04 PM Overwatch currently has a lot in it. Automatic flares and Goliaths were enough to carry the old commander by themselves, and in the last version of the patch they got bundled into a single ability to fit a buffed Sector Assault back in. This gives the commander in effect six solid commander abilities, which is a large part of why it's become OKW's default commander. It's even been banned from KotH Season 3 now. If Overwatch Doctrine's Early Warning Systems were to be split back up (making Goliaths and the automatic flares abilities in their own right again) which ability would you remove from the Overwatch doctrine to bring it back down to 5? Thread: How would you like the JLI to be nerfed?15 Jan 2019, 12:46 PM A five minute cooldown would definitely work, but the balance team aren't keen on that sort of restriction. JLI were brought down specifically so you could mix them into an infantry composition. I think 3 man is the way to go. They can keep their strong long range performance, but if not properly supported they'll get clubbed hard by CQC and vehicles. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Usf Rifle Company14 Jan 2019, 16:38 PM 76mm will beat p4, sure but jackson will do it too and they both have terrible anti infantry capabilities so whats the point in turning sherman into tank destroyer? That's where you're wrong. A 76mm using the basic rounds has pretty standard medium tank performance against infantry. The AoE on them's about the same as the P4 if memory serves. Sure, it's not as good as a 75mm's HE rounds, but that's specialist anti-infantry ammunition. You might as well say it's not as good against infantry as a Centaur is. The 75mm has generalist rounds and specialized anti-infantry rounds. The 76mm has generalist rounds and specialized anti-armour rounds. Most medium tanks just have generalist rounds. Could have sworn it was eating five Pak shots rather than four earlier, but testing it again, yep, you're right. That's probably better from a variety standpoint. All three Shermans are distinct. The 75mm Sherman is a pretty standard medium tank with specialist HE rounds for clubbing infantry. The 76mm Sherman is 15 fuel more expensive and swaps out those HE rounds for HVAP, which club P4s. The E8 Sherman is the T-34/85 analogue, which is much more expensive and has good performance against everything but Panthers. In: COH2 Gameplay

Thread: The Overwatch Problem14 Jan 2019, 12:32 PM Relic has a mistake it keeps making with its patches: it makes huge sweeping buffs in the last version of the testing mods which receive minimal feedback. Pretty much all of the problem abilities were added in the 1.8 version of the patch: buffed Sector Assault, Anti-Tank Overwatch, 250 MP 1 CP JLIs. Sector Assault and AT Overwatch are much easier to fix than JLIs, which are a more complex problem. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: The Overwatch Problem13 Jan 2019, 12:18 PM The problem with JLI is less raw damage and more that they can negate enemy cover at CP1 while benefiting from it themselves. They stomp everything so hard in cover fights that your only option is to blob them to death, which is not the sort of playstyle patches are meant to encourage. For their high-power crit sniper design to work, they need to be impractical as a mainline infantry unit, however that's achieved. In: COH2 Balance
