This commander Update 2021 wont have much effect in team games.
Most of Ost players will continue to choose Elephant commander, simply bc they are forced to. It is the best way to stop Ally waves of tanks and TD. Its a shame, but its the truth.
The same logic goes to OKW, were at least 1 player on the team pick JT doctrine.

mmm I dont know. I like it.
By the why, another KV1 abuse. Its the new meta now??? |
KV1 seems to be the new meta in 2v2 and 4v4. It is being used like a Churchill, but with much less pop cap.
Maybe limiting it to max 1 per time (like other heavys) could be an option. |
Because 5man Grens were a 270mp 60muni squad that could beat every single mainline 1v1, had great on the move DPS thanks to the squad leader G43, was extremely survivable, had free medkits at vet 1, techless 19 range snare, techless rifle grenade that’s bugged half the time and doesn’t produce animation or sometimes warning, and were supported by the cheap 251 for forward reinforcing and healing.
To call whoever put this disgusting unit in the game incompetent is an understatement.
Sorry but I never was talking about the Squad Leader upgrade, which in fact was very good before the last patch, now is bad.
I was talking about a "bolster" like ability for OST, like the Brit or Sov one, with a vanilla gren model add. The only thing this will do is making the squad more resistant in the late game, which is full of arty, tanky shells, call in arty, etc. I think it wont break anything. |
I have a big question about mainline infantry. Please explain to me, without being sarcastic, and without being an Ally or Axis fanboy, and being absolutelly realistic, why:
- 7men Cons squads are considered balanced.
- 5men IS squads, with double Bren, are considered balanced.
- 5men RM squads, with BAR or 1919, are considered balanced.
- 5men Volks, with STG or MP40, are considered balanced.
- Hypothetically 5men Gren squads are considered OP as hell and will break the entire game. |
Please, lets be honest, the only thing the was keeping Ost playable before the last patch was the Infantry Doctrine 5men Gren upgrade.
In this last patch the "brillant" balance team decided to nerf it (dont know why), setting Ost again in an horrible balance position.
Also decided to nerf another important units of Ost roster like Brumm Armor and sniper LOS. |
Brumm is fine.
Allies has super cost effective TD (SU85, M36 and FF).
Also allies can double equip ANY infantry with double handed AT to help, (even the cheapest inf), which is a big advantage over Axis. Just use them well. |
For the CP4 I'd say either reduce the POP cost (maybe 10?) or - my favourite - add utility.
Like an actual commander that increases sight range (not sure if it can be done model wise), some focus fire ability vs infantry or mark vehicle vs tanks (will probably need to be removed form the Elefant commander then), recon or smoke shell or something similar. Even some "inspire" ability or so would fit nicely.
Only one of these obviously, not the whole set
+1
But Comm P4 needs more than one buff (or new ability) to be useful. |
If CP4 came with armour skirts I think that would be a good addition
+1
Armour skirts would be a good add.
Also a Scout Plane ability, like the one on the new Infrared HT.

There are 2 OST doctrine abilities that I found too bad at the moment: Light Artilery Barrage and Command P4.
- Light Artilery Barrage : This artilery ability cost too much for what it does (and what it does is literally zero damage). It should cost less, or have an AOE or DMG increase. Or increase it costs and put it in line with some other Brit arty abilities.
- Comm P4: this tank was nerfed too much through the past of the years. Its aura nowadays brings almost nothing to other units. Its main gun miss 9 out of 10 shots. Its armor and HP is similar to the vanilla P4. It should receive something like a range increase, accuracy increase and (maybe) a scout plane loiter ability. |
