I rather like the way fussies are different than volks. They come less combat proficient with their rifles but more flexible with muni ability. It's a good dynamic than sort of forces a player to mix them at the start of the match. Meanwhile the power spike of volks is offset by the longevity of fussies. |
It is not about hitting the ATG with TD , it is about TD outranging the ATG thus harassing/killing without a risk factor.
OKW can build a jp4 which can return fire at allied TDs. The rak in the preview has onky 5 range less than other AT guns so there's that as well. |
Additionally to the patch preview changes, I would do something like this:
- Vet 2 bonusses moved to Vet 0
- Vet 3 bonus (better mobility) moved to Vet 2
- Vet 3 now grants +40 hitpoints and a tiny bit more armor protection
- fuel cost reverted from 50 to 55

That is what I’m saying. If a unit is performing worse than its cheaper counterpart when its performance is most needed then why bother using the expensive one right ?
If you compare literally any infantry against volks you will come to that conclusion... The issue is less with fussies than it is with volks. You could have call in riflemen clones and volks would still be favored because volks are cheaper and there is nothing you would want mainline infantry to do they can't do. |
On the topic of the flak trak if I recall properly (been a while since I used it) a set up flak trak will actually lose to a kraut mower that comes to it. Maybe a ROF buff will make it more reliable at all the roles it should be/ could be filling. |
That's the core of the problem with it.
It can't retreat, so it's destroyed if it loses an engagement. It's also too expensive to lose. Relic tried to solve this by making it tough enough that you don't lose it, and we've all seen how that ended.
At this point, I think a high investment, generalist, direct-fire emplacement inevitably results in SimCity.
I see two solutions to this problem.
The first is to make it a unit you can afford to lose: make it a cheap but easily destroyed emplacement like an OKW Flak. Enemy blows it up? Just build more.
The second is to make it a specialist: no anti-infantry capability beyond Suppressing Barrage, but 60 range, really good against light vehicles and a threat to mediums that get too close. That'd be a real alternative to the AEC.
I feel like that would be really strange. All other flak is AI focused so having one that just isn't at all would be awkward I think

I do some further test with the bofor 1.2, now i can move a Volk straight in and toss a flame nade then retreat with 3-4 model, i did it 3,4 time in a row until the bofor is destroyed in cheat mod with fow on.
I see why most axis player said bofor 1.2 is solid change.
This is intended. The bofors isn't as independent as volks are. Bofors is supposed to have an army around it to be worth its cost but volks are supposed to win most engagements frontally and especially against Supression platforms with the micro tax on the not owk player due to their raw independence. This is a well known factor in balancing |
