one of the main reasons i hate to touch coh2 is because i dont have super good internet connection it is just a normal connection and i really dont have any big problem playing games online such as battlefield which you are playing with 63 other players and there is no trouble with it, but in COH2 i sometimes lag and game freezes for a few seconds, in beta when someone lagged the lag was applied to all other players then game was resumed. but in the new coh2 the game only pauses for me and when it resumes everything moves at 16x speed to catch the game with other players and during this time i just see my units dying so fast, faster than light.
Today i played a COH1 game vs my friend Aikaz and same thing happened game froze for 2 seconds for me for lag and when it resumed i just saw my entire units dying at 16x speed then aikaz was asking me why you didnt retreat...
does this mean i should also say byebye to coh1? not everyone lives in a country with super good optic connections, i played coh1 for years and i participated in many tournaments not even a single person was saying it is bad to play vs me because of lag or something, lag was only 1 second or 2 second but it was 1 in 10000, in this new way i keep losing my units because i just dont understand what is happening to my units when game freezes. is there any way relic is gonna revert this game server back to what it was before this last patch? |
i will share with you my opinions,it's a post that i did to another thread and tell me what you don't like.
My main concern is that with this tactic followed so far by Relic/Sega the pool of players will be gradually getting smaller and smaller then ultimately the servers will close. Eventually some day in the future they will but this plan don't seem right to me.
Choices you have:
1)You support the game (as an old game and not as new) but you fix serious problems, rebalance some units, bugs, add new maps etc. You don't make any changes to graphics. This way you keep the ones that have already pay for it and you attract back the ones that already have it and don't play it. The sales will also grow because the product they are buying is good enough, near or even better than the pre-steam state.(game is still alive and you extend its viability)
I'm ready to pay for it if that is necessary.
2)You make an HD version with all the changes that needs to be done. Better support than choice 1,It will include new graphics, all the fixes that choice 1 has ,plus some changes that justify the cost, new campaigns etc. Sales I think will also grow in that case too(at least that's my opinion, game is still alive and you extend its viability)
The way now is been followed will eventually make more and more people to leave.
It's really good news that you Noun will pass both requests, I'm waiting impatiently to hear news about this.
I would also like to see a game based only on original vCoH (Wehrmacht and Americans)
I'm sorry if I make some people that love Brits and PE unhappy.
Hope for some changes.

what makes you think i am going to pay to relic after pre ordering COH2 and seeing what a game it turned out to be? and for the game i already own? my thread is in the contrary with what u try to say. HD should never come at least not from this developers. |

I see a lot of people asking for coh HD or new expansion to coh1 because they think it will make the game to have more players again, well guys you are totally wrong and i have one simple reason for you:
If the current Relic (the relic in charge of making OF and ToV and CoH2) will make any expansion or HD version of COH1 it will be nothing more than another noob friendly game like CoH2, just take a look at games they have given to you already. For some reason people at Relic enjoy having a unit called mobile bunker such as kangaroos and bren carriers and this clown cars in CoH2 and halftrucks from panzerelite and so on. if they rebuild CoH1 they will import these type of units to wehrmacht and USA without any doubt. the current Relic army designers do not like the idea of flanking there will be always units which are made for people with less skill to make it possible for them to win a game and Wehr and USA will be full of them in HD version do NOT even doubt it. like my mate aimstrong always says "they enjoy making units with at least a second arty ability like soviets".
vCoH was made by an expert team who understood so much about RTS if you see both vCoH factions were desigend against each other, one was good at being offensive and other one good at being defensive. Could you win a game with only spam in vCoH? no ofcourse not, what is the key point in winning in CoH2 and OF ? anything except spamming infantry? just have a look at british and panzer elite faction do they even have a single incommon thing with each other and other factions? they are designed for spam-encouraging play style such as:
- LT gives bonus point to near by units (strategic tip spam your infantry close to LT)
- Group Zeal makes panzer grenadier to be tougher when they are grouped (strategic tip spam your PG together)
- Command tanks in both CoH2 and OF give bonus to near by armor (strategic tip spam your tanks together)
^These are examples of showing that my words are true about how they make a faction
If some day there will be a new CoH1 made by current relic you will see wehrmacht motorbikes and American jeeps being able to garrison infantry inside and run around your MG with their mobile bunker ability and the only way to win is to spam your units next to one certain unit which gives bonus to the others. |
i find the reverse button to be a great addon to coh2, that doesn't mean that now its easier to micro. The pathing was made better this way, how many times people got frustrated in vcoh when their tanks suddenly started turning when you wanted them to reverse. But now, you can actually micro your tank the way you want, backwards of fowards, nothing wrong with that. You can now focus better on other units at the same time. That's one of the reasons, why coh2 has alot of good players, because you don't get punished by these stupid pathing problems.

I doubt vCoH still gives any money to Relic or Sega, so be grateful for the game you currently have.
it does, i am a steam trader and i had both company of heroes 2 and its expansion up for sale for cheaper prices than sales but no one wants them and i finally ended up redeeming the expansion for myself (although i got it for almost free) but if you have COH1 and selling it is only 2 seconds to get rid off it because there are many people who want the game. |
Everybody would like if they kept updating COH.
However, they are letting the game die out in favor of their Western Fronts expansion. They are trying to lure the old vCoh fans to COH 2 with this expansion because it really looks like vCoh a lot more. But yet it's still far from the same.
Chances for a vCoh update are very slim I'm afraid.
i correct you my man, Western front is COH Opposing Front not VCOH, dont forget people who made that AWESOME VCOH were some different team  western front is as crappy as opposing fronts and i am really lucky i got it in a give away. |

I do not know what you read from my post but i never said anything related to coh1 being more skill-hungry etc etc. I also appreciated how you look down upon my poor soul which had its first encounter with coh franchise via coh2. I also never said i haven't played coh1; i just never got into it.
just proves that your nostalgic eyeglasses are adding words in between everything other ppl say.
why these days when ever you say something old is better than something new, people call you nostalogic? just why? let's be reasonable every company is only trying to earn money dont you see how many games are just like each other these days? only the title is different, this is not nostalgic. why should i like a system which forces me to pay to have full access to a game which i already pre ordered for $60 while in the past a game was $40 and was not following this pay to discover system? these days Beta is more like an interview to the game than a test before release and i am not referring to only CoH, to every game. |
In the end it's all personal opinion of what you consider 'skill'. Judging by the list of top players I'd consider CoH2 to require less skill than CoH1. To me, that doesn't necessarily make it less fun to play. If you don't enjoy the game, don't play it.
- weapons have recoil and spray you need to counteract
- hitboxes are smaller (especially in GO) and it's more important where you hit your opponent
- money system
- grenade mechanics
- highly practiced maps (I don't think there's a map in existence that has been played as much as de_dust2. This also means that the pro teams are incredibly good at playing it.)
- no aim assist like there is for console kiddies
- movement is a lot more complicated

Dude. Everyone hates blizzards. Except you it seems. They are slowing the game down and not making it any "hardcore", they are making the match just annoying and exhausting to play. I want CoH1 like fast paced matches, no campaign like matches where you could aswell chat with your opponent while spending your mp on firepits and enjoying the visuals.
i know what you mean but dont they give us the option to select or unselect which maps we want to play on? if someone doesnt like snow then they put it out for themselves. we have enough votes to put all snow maps out in 2v2 and 1v1 as i just checked |
