Flamers + M3 can actually be reasonably dealt with provided the map is smaller. On maps such as Kholondy I don't find this to be an issue with Ostheer. It is tasteless boring play I think, but it is not OP. On large maps you can sometimes get caught out and due to unit long retreat paths the flamer+retreat effect is amplified resulting in almost guaranteed squad losses.
On the other hand m3+sniper creates a different issue. This combination has more reward/less risk involved for the soviet player and the only MP efficient counter (asides from a nice faust/teller mine + ambush) for Ostheer is tech to t2 for an AC. A tech decision which becomes primarily reduntant asides from taking down damaged t70/su76's.
I would be curious to see the game with these tech structures.
Ostheer t1 = Grens, MG42, Scout car (upgrade available after t2 tech), Sniper.
Ostheer t2 = PG, Half-track, Mortar, Pak40.
Russian t1 = Penal, Scout car M3, Maxim machine gun.
Russian t2 = Sniper, Mortar, Zi3 atg.
It would break the quick link between M3 and snipers. I don't think this will happen though because I think Russian t2 is seen as support weapons team tech. Although it would reduce the 'lameness' of Soviets, as Crells stated prior it could increase the potential holes of Soviet teching.
i add one more idea : only flamer troop from soviets = penal battalion not engineers

Honestly I think a proper mine + single shreck upgrade for the germans would solve most of the M3 complaints. There's no real need to change the M3 itself drastically, once flame damage on retreat goes down and units inside the M3 are damaged/killed when the car itself explodes.
can you show me this tactic in 1v1 please ? i just rush one clown car with flamers inside and get the whole map from you since you are running away and dying on retreat cause flaming car is chasing you and how can you get 120ammo for schrecks and then 50 or 60 muni (not so sure ) for teller mine ? by the way did you see my SNF 2v2 replay which got casted thanks to tommy and fatal , that i lay teller mine on the road which that clown car was coming from and it hits and only takes %15 damage ? then engineers inside come out and repair it in no time.... |

Yeah, most of the German commanders need sassing up.
Incidentally, German sniper fires 1.5x as often... meaning he shouldn't be that much slower at killing squads. He can also come with supporting MGs and mortars on account of the tier system, while the Soviet sniper can't. He's probably still dying a bit too suddenly especially from indirect fire but I think people getting better at using the camo will mitigate that a bit.
The 6-man weapons are almost all worse than the German equivalent (MG in fire-arc and suppression, mortar in rate of fire and accuracy). Hence more survivable/less likely to get completely decrewed.

Not saying I think the sniper car is a good thing to have in the game but that's a *huge* early manpower and time investment if it's coming up first thing... if not, a German has plenty of time to get up a preemptive scout car. Risky in that it makes it hard to punish a quick tier 2 and will slow your capping down a lot not having the combat engis on the field. Losing whole squads to it seems indicative of pretty bad play.
and what if your oppenet is not going for clown car dont u think mg spam is another joke by soviets ? i made this strat vs Marcus and spanky did it vs barton he got outplayed at ease because there is just NO counter to MG spam from soviets. how can u take out 6 men garrisoned crew? |
Kinda agree. IMO, there seems to only be a handful of abilities that are useful

2. Sector artilery
3. from the looks of things, everything in the tiger/Opel Blitz tree

I am only buying COH2 if the MP is good - that is the ONLY reason I played coh.. for the multi player acction.
I personally would not spend hard earned $$ for coh2 based on its single player campain....
If coh2 MP sucks and then they DONT fix Steam Coh then I will just say FUCK this SHIT and move over to a new game.
I am not spending money on a game and be stupid enough to pre order something that I am NOT SURE that is even good. NEVER pre-order anything - WHY would you do that? For a few extra skins? the M3 should be completely removed from the game that is the solution. Soviets had their own scout car called BA-64 they replace it with this M3 and we are fine. Right now soviet army is relic favourite faction why ? because comp stomping world loves to play a game which their units could use 10000 abilities therefore they will enjoy playing with soviets since one unit can role as everything this means = making alot of money |
