All the TDs?
The M10 is mobile. The Firefly has a turret and enough mobility and tulips. Honourable mentiones to the Puma and Panther as mobile vehicle hunters, if not proper TDs.
The vulnerable to rushes part is purely for fixed casemate TDs like the SU85 and JgPz IV and StuG.
What they are all actually vulnerable to is infantry, for which they have zero response. And the jackson is as weak there as any other TD. not if they are faster |

Same for the panther, tiger, king tiger, churchill etc... even the OKW Pz4 could be included into this list.
People are simply focusing too much on the Jackson in a vacuum and don't want to look a the faction as a whole. The Jackson is the only mobile dedicated AT unit USF have and this is the root issue of what the Jackson is today. Adding that the second AT unit USF have is locked behind a optional tech make the USF faction overly depending on Jackson to be its bread and butter for AT.
Note that Ranger's change with super-zook gave new opportunities to USF players (at least on 1vs1) to be less dependent on Jackson to counter medium tanks and Panthers.

imo a 10% damage boost to the conscript mosin + a change of the upgrade cost to 60 munitions + reduction to T1/2 tech requirements is the best way to make conscripts finally viable... then we can safely buff the maxim without creating all maxim armies... oh yes, first we overbuff cons by increasing their damage and making the upgrade come before lmg 42, and then we buff the maxim too, why not delete the axis and only play soviet civil war ?...

- Cons: 240 mp 6 man 20 mp to reinforce. 240÷6=40 which means reinforce is 50% effective.
- Volks: 250 mp 5 man 25 mp to reinforce. 250÷5=50 which means reinforce is 50% effective.
all faction units cost like this rifle etc (not IS cause IS is BALANCED )
what people means for cheap is the reinforce for a single model cause they still have 80 hp not lower but are 6 so they are cheaper to reinforce |
Yes the Jackson is a good TD, in fact it's probably the only USF unit that excells at anything without being overpriced. Is that a bad thing? Wait its a USF unit so I guess it is, nerf it into the ground.

tbh the 42 isnt the reason why earlygame cons have huge problems... the main issue is the volks and grens get their weapon upgrades almost imemdiately while cons take ages to recieve their upgrades... that plus okw having waay too much starting MP compared to sov, sturm + volk vs engineer + cons means that the soviets are pretty much gonna be in the backfoot at the start of the game...
the best solution imo is
put the conscript upgrade to T3 (the upgrade is quite powerful to be fair)
then add 10% DPS to the base conscript rifle... no they are fine vs green they always been so, and I don't remember green getting buffed while cons did get long and close range buff and a vet buff
the problem people have is vs volks as they can spam them like cons thanks to the starting mp

I have not played too much SOV lately, but I thinkt the upgrade has not changed the meta.
Cons previously were a gamble from early(due to bad performance) to late game (if they get whiped, new cons will be horribly bad). Now late game seems okay taking into account that they are non doc. But early game is not fixed, and also Soviets you can't spam conscripts since you need other units like Guards or Shocks to deal real damage. So you can build either 4 cons and be unable to fit good infantry into the build, or build only two and hope you survive to 2 CPs.
Also, there are not that many units worth merging into besides the ZiS, due to the shitty model stats of the conscript. they only have 1.09 more RA for team weapon is always worth it as they have 1.25 base RA, for other if they got vet it does not matter as base they have 1.00 apart from guards that have 0.97 base
im unsure if they keep their armor or get the armor of the squad but anyway u pay much less to reinforce for a 9% RA difference generally for inf and it's instant, it's more than worth it, and with the 7th man upgrade u pay even less for merging |
Aganst okw just amove them always. Against grens there is no solution other than sniper start.
I would just nerf mg42 to 34 or maxim level

5 range has never worked outside of engaging slow units such as infantry. There's a reason that most of the tanks have incremental range by 10.
Anomalies such as the Tiger, have their range only help against infantry or non "meta" existent 50 range vehicles.
Even if you account for speed, take a look at the Comet. We don't see people using it to kite 40 range vehicles.
when the Jackson is one of the fastest tank the argument is not valid (6.5 with 3 acceleration), especially considering the 0.75 accuracy on the move that helps keep it at range |
