Ideally entity models should award XP proportionally to how well they vet. 70XP for a vet0 Tommy model is more than fair, considering their Vet0 performance. 120XP for a Vet3 Tommy is pushing it.
...
Well I find the 100 XP for a single ober model at vet 0 or the 200 for a vet 5 model more problematic. Or the 95 for a Fall vet 0 or the 190 for vet 5.
Anyway, my point, was that the argument that axis infantry gain veterancy faster because they fighting more expensive squads holds little water. |
...
You cannot calculate it per models. It means nothing, because they have different DPS per model, if they had same DPS you can calculate it per models, because both gren and riflemen models would be the same.
...
The XP that one gains is related to XP value and the damage done. In the case of infantries it is the XP value of the individual model (if I am not mistaken manpower cost of squad/number of enttiites). Killing a riflemen entity gives you 56 XP while killing a grenadier entity 60.
...
Grens-cons match up is equad. Both have thier ranges where they can win. USF rifles cost more than grens so they must be better. But they are only better at close-mid range, giving OST advantage at long range in cover.
...
Riflemen vs Grenadiers heavy cover long range is about even. Grenadier do not have an advantage. |
The point was never about nerfing the Valentine but the exact opposite. Imo Valentine should be buffed by lowering the pop cap and probably the CP for start.
But in order to do that one has to reduce the utility of the unit. Currently the unit is one of best crushers in the game, can create smoke screen, has radar and can increase the range of the Sexton by +240. If the unit was also average/good at fighting the unit would be OP.
The simplest way to that is to make "observation mode" an upgrade similar to "command vehicle" but limited to 1 and to Valentines.
The one can balance the Valentines as a normal medium/light vehicle and add penalties to upgrade if it is needed. |
Valentine can use the smoke screen button but will not fire the smoke if in "observation mode". The button should either not be available during observation mode or the ability should work during that mode.
Valentine also lack lucks indicator similar to 251/20 for angle and range of the "radar" observation mode. |
The ranger of the valentine Radar and of the 251/20 is the same (120 if i am not mistaken). The cone of the valentine is massively bigger. |
...
You are goddamn incorrect, my friend. Most of DPS in 4 member squad (except pgrens) lies in their LMG.
Grenadier lmg42 damage is equal to other 3 members damage and obers lmg is far better than all 3 rifles together.
...
That is partially correct because it only is right at range 30-35. By range 20 the 3 rifles have better DPS than the Lmg.
It is correct thou that squad with weapon upgrades tend to lose less DPS when losing models with the exception probably of vet 1 Penal/assault Guards due to last man standing. |
I feel like I'm the only one who's actually tried using the Valentine for combat use.
Seriously, I have real trouble trying to vet this thing but seems to be taking forever....
True probably the best way to vet the unit is to use it for crushing. |
Well the tread has a bit confusing title maybe change it aesthetics instead of design? |
In live according to relic Ostheer infantry is UP:
"This balance mod has been created as a collaboration between community members and balance modders, GGTheMachine, Mr Smith, and Miragefla. The scope of this patch has been focused to a subset of priority balance concerns sourced from community feedback and balance data. These concern areas include Light Tanks/Vehicles, Squad Formations & Clumping, USF Mortar, Penals & Guards, and Wehrmacht Infantry Scaling." |
I think you may have missed my point. I had agreed with smith that a map hack and a shitty tank thing is a cheap, heavy-handed way to make the valentine synergize with the doctrine. Something a little more subtle would be nice, but that would probably (IMO) come with combat improvements to keep the unit's usefulness balanced out.
And what I suggested is to make the Radar ability an upgrade similar to command vehicle limited to one.
Then one can balance the Valentine as medium/light tank and add penalties to radar ability upgrade if one has to, similar to the command vehicle upgrade. |
