I wanted to create a list of all the units that are fairly neglected by the playerbase. These are units that are underpowered or do not fit into a clear role, where better alternatives would work. Some of these units are not bad, but something makes them unattractive to go for. Feel free to discuss anything I have put, add your own, or tell me why something is wrong. I will edit the list with community input.
Most of these units will have obvious faults and reasons for being on the list. For anything that I consider to be borderline, I will put in parenthesis.

The number of entries I put is meant in no way to show how balanced each faction is. Just like Relic adjusted the AEC to make people actually consider getting it, maybe they could look at some of these units too.
I see ostwinds, flak tracks, assault grens, 50 cals, assault engineers, and scout cars quite irregularly, but definitely enough to deem them not exactly fallen out of the meta. However I do agree many of these units are fairly weak and lack a defined role, but this does open up strategies. |
Short term memory?
Go read December patch reactions, the vitriol on the forums about the major overhauls.
Sure, you quote the stark many whom are on the gratuitous side of the spectrum, I quote the reasonable and not so quick tempered who actually play and care about the game. No need to be so salty over little.
Post note, there's always going to be opposition to change. |
Because changing "too many things" at once will make people cry again, so get used to a slow pace now.
No, I don't think that's quite the issue people whine about, they whine about obvious issues in balance and gameplay, such as the War spoils, Sexton, Brace ability, UKF emplacements in general, the AEC(which they have improved), blobs, spam, yadda yadda. |
Small patches like this are what happens when people bitch and bitch and bitch about relic making big changes in the previous patches. That's on all of the whiners that make up the vocal minority.
I'm glad they addressed the AEC, but aside there really isn't anything they did, so label those you call "whiners", but they still left MANY major issues on the table *cough* Sexton *cough* emplacements*cough* |
Shitty click bait title that has nothing to do with the patch
I feel like ever since the official forums went down, more and more crap post spawners have migrated here. |
Bright side is that Relic mentioned on their stream yesterday that a "small" balance patch is coming either next week or the week after that at the latest. They said it was going to "bring Brits more in line with other 4 factions" or something to that effect. So at least we have that to look forward to.
Wouldn't surpise me if they minorly buffed units like the UC and AEC to beef up Brits light vehicle play. I kinda hope they let squads fire out the UC :3
That would definitely be welcome, UC and AEC could both use some pretty substantial health buffs, and they need to fix the AEX vet ability, which is bugged as hell. And maybe tone down the cost on the croc slightly, and make IS veterancy worthwhile. |
I am sure sorryWTFisthis is baiting, especially with UKF being right now the top choice of every Allies player, especially those considering ESL.
Biased much? :/
UKF, top choice? Dude, I don't think anyone even played UKF in the ESL tourney. |
The UKF was originally designed in that way, in a sense. Toms had a high rebuild cost and were vulnerable in open areas. So you had to use everything in your inventory to survive the early game.
Now they are immortal exterminators with a high potential for blobbing. They cost less than grens to reinf, what the hell.
I think you should stop trolling man. Look at the win rate for top players in UKF, the amount of griping on the forums about them, and the number of people who play them in competitive tourneys, then come back and tell us all what exactly in gods creation is over powered about the Brits. |
What happened to me is most of the time they made mortars/ISG my sniper was out and helped to clear the threat. Also i did not hesitate to crew the mortar with the engeener (when they finished repairing) to help winning the artillery war, i found that quite efficient.
About AG i think you are right. The wasp is the answer. The only time i tried to go for it (and remember saving munition) i was taken by surprised and my UC got destroyed by the MG. I ll do better next time.
Kozo.
Alas, more people play OKW then they do Ostheer, and even then I don't see mechanized very often nowadays. Lot more spear head, and Ostruppen, I swear every somewhat decent player uses ostruppen now. Gets kinda annoying having to contend against 2 snipers backed up by several Mgs, mortars, and squads of cheap infantry, and tanks. Bloody tanks. |
I do a lot ^^ and i love it.
I was only presenting what i felt reading the forum.
For my part i do not agree at all with what i see.
I really love British 1v1 gameplay even if it took me time to appreciate it.
It is just VERY different from what we are used to.

Kozo.
It's like a straight up flashback from the days of Supreme commander and vcoh, linear teching, emplacement reliance, and the snowball effect. By that I mean it begins weaker and with less viable strategies but slowly blossoms in the late game to become many things. Alas, they can only reach this point with crutch units, such as the IS, MG, and AT gun. Relic needs to change the way it's played, as we payed for this, and shouldn't expect anything less then excellence, especially coming from the faction and company that produced probably the greatest
RTS of all time. |
