Otherwise, I could imagine, as the mine is a newly created game object sent over network that some basic stats are applied for a few frames before correctly applying the correct stats, and the player just happen to be unlucky enough to have hit that sweet spot. Actually, a lot of games engines do that (create object, use standard object values, then load data from the rules)
Sometimes the game engine has their own bugs..

True, but penetrations values can still allow mines to get triggered by weapons even if they're not explosive. There was a mod that made everything pen 1000, even small arms, which demonstrated that - it made the game very C&C like.
I guess, it was, as you underline, a string of unluck.

I don't think so. Many mines get finished under fire, as we could also see in the last tournament, and I can't remember that they would blow up regularly. Actually I can't remember them blowing up due to this at all.
It's either a weird bug (it's CoH2 after all) or a very very unfortunate chain of RNG for Latch.
Weirdly enough I was always under the impression that it was the case that units under fire have a chance to get blown up by mines they shouldn't trigger if under fire. I have seen full health M20s blowing up after putting down their mine (and triggering their own mine) just after I hit them with a single Shrek. I have also experienced my own P4 being blown up by my halftruk mine whilst it was retreating and being hit whilst rolling over my own mine. I guess there is a hidden mechanic somewhere down the rules. |
I am to believe that any unit under fire on a mine will trigger the mine if it hasn't been triggered by the type of unit itself. |
What's wrong with that? Unit is under fire on a mine, mine blows up, kills units, and retreats? |
Ram will most likely get nerfed, and then the next combo will be found and overused, then nerfed again. This cycle of nerfs is not healthy at all, I'd rather see a reworking than a change. Or people just adapting to the possibility of a ram if they spot a T34 - I've been doing that for the past two months, putting mines on every possible flank. Gotta play the games against people who have that commander loaded!
OTT: Honestly, I seriously do not believe that trying to appropriate ideas to further one's own agenda is healthy. Everyone has good ideas and suggestions and everyone in this forum has written them down in one way or another. The real credit goes to the mod team who implements and puts them into the code and into action. Grabbing away their hard work for some weird selfish pat on back is borderline trolling, selfish and enraging. Appreciate the modders and coders, not the random suggestions. Even a blind chicken finds corn..

I guess that the thread is over then. Enjoy your new game! |
Yeah, you really need to learn to play the game than thinking that german superior units should do all the work for you. The USF player outsmarted you with the most simplest trick against one MG42 in Yellow Cover.
Don't ragequit next time, it was a waste of a teamgame and you were rather rude ingame too. You need to calm down and learn the game. Don't blame balance if you fail at reading and reacting to 2 riflemen doing a lure and flank.
Edit: always fun posting clips from 2015! |
Don't play a game you don't like dude, nobody is forcing you. You ragequit after you thinking your MG42 would just do all the work with no effort, don't blame the game, blame the player. You just got outsmarted by a simple flank and you ragequit after like 3min of play. |
Ah, you were my ragequitting random teammate then, you said exactly the same thing in game when i replied to you right before you quit ... You had one rifleman attacking your MG42 frontal, and another one attacking from the side - but in the arc of the MG42. You should have targeted them too before they got too close to wipe out the crew. Don't ragequit next time man, you won't learn CoH2 by ragequitting to just blame balance. |
