Thread: UI dream changelog 15 Jul 2020, 14:08 PM Jump back to quoted post15 Jul 2020, 13:54 PMHannibal The boasting that some people here unfortunately do á la "nice to see something I suggested 3 years ago" often lacks major parts of the whole process: Most of the time they only complained about something, but very rarely they offered the solution that was implemented in the end and/or put work into the actual fixing of the issue. That is exactly what I do not want to see on this forum; individual people taking full control and attribution over some idea that has been discussed for months with a lot of threads with a lot of posts from a lot of users. If there are major implementations, solutions and contributions that can be identified to individuals, yes, that's more than OK. But it is just stupid when people are trying to say it was their idea to fix a problem or some to individual fix/nerf (and thus should, therefore, be credited). Let's suggest, for example, the hot topic of the moment, the OKW flares, is fixed in a future patch. If that is ever fixed, I do not think a unique individual can be thanked, as the problem was discussed for months in the forums. The credit of fixing it would be the balance team who merged all the posts together to find a unique fitting solution. Nonetheless, I bet people will try to credit the fix to themselves. There's nothing stopping people to try to force people's hands saying that each point might be theirs. It is mostly to protect Osinyagov, if he starts crediting individual users, he might feel or be forced that he has to do it for everyone for every point, I don't want him to get endless PMs from random users who want credits due because they posted some similar idea months or years ago. I know it is very off-topic, but I generally rant when people try to get individual credit for community work. Credit due, yeah, but I beware that it might spiral out of control. The forum is to me a welcoming place to discuss the game we love and to be a community, it is not there to win e-pen points about who has the most suggestions and to boast with them. TLDR: I agree with proper naming of individual valid contributions - but I beware of people who want to get internet points whilst piggy back-riding on others (and them having naming and shaming them) for just posting about something. Thread: Nerf spec ops flares15 Jul 2020, 11:04 AM it is easy counterable...just move your units out of the flares areas. not this hard i did not say it is not counterable. Nevermind, knowing how many units are there and where they are moving to is already golden info to any good player. Forcing a player to move is not a counter either - it is winning an engagement with just some muni cost. Also, see comment about flare visuals often bugging out. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Nerf spec ops flares15 Jul 2020, 10:56 AM I'd say heartingly that the flares need a fix in the next patch, as it is way too common spotting them in any 2on2 games. It is just a cheesy one click ability that removes so much play from the game - it counters everything as information is the key to win the game. Especially in narrow maps like rails and metal they reveal too much and out of nowhere. Make them at least be shot from an unit, volks or leig so that it needs a bit more of play. Also yeah, they do tend to bug out visually - sometimes they show, sometimes they don't and sometimes that glare effect is enough to brighten up most of Britain at night at once. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: UI dream changelog 13 Jul 2020, 10:55 AM I do like that you give credit whereas needed, but I would like to reiterate that I do not personally believe that it is a must to appropriate ideas and suggestions to individual people. It is the community who creates ideas and discussions, I always roll my eyes when people try to self-appropriate content they vaguely described years ago. It is a bad habit and utterly disheartening and counterproductive. Good work to yourself man for putting it all together into a nice well written manner. If you really need to thank people, thank them all at once instead of thanking for individual points. In: Lobby
Thread: T-34 Ram8 Jul 2020, 12:46 PM People are arguing that patch notes say that the T34 ram is only to be used as last resort tool but the notes clearly say that it's meant to highlight it as last resort tool - this means that even relic wants players to know that the ability is meant to be used at any time. The patch notes want to draw special attention that the ability can also be used even when the player think a low health tank is useless and about to be destroyed. That's what the wording highlight means. It's a nudge for players to better understand the ability. That's what the full patch notes sentence means. It'd be nicer if people used full sentences from patch notes and not just parts of what they want and ignoring other stuff. Twisting sentences is bad. Also I strongly think that using patch notes that are more than two or three years old to fuel a discussion is irrelevant. A lot of things have changed by then! In: COH2 Balance

Bolster Bolster is being pushed back to require the Platoon Command Post. This change should delay the power spike of fast 5 man squads by forcing them to purchase tech, rather than additional units. Now requires Platoon Command Post Universal Carrier Vickers The Vickers K is being delayed to reduce its impact in the early game. This will delay an upgraded UC if a player opts to build a larger number of units instead of teching. Now requires Platoon Command Post Perimeter Overwatch Perimeter Overwatch is having its duration reduced to prevent the UKF from locking out large portions of the map for an extended period of time. The sight bonus has also been altered to reduce its impact without spotters. Time reduced from 120 seconds to 60 seconds Sight bonus no longer stacks with Anvil; Anvil bonus sight takes priority. Commando Regiment Assault Ability This change will put the Assault ability on-par with other infantry combat boosts abilities in terms of its timing.
