Hey everyone just found this website a few minutes ago and loved the little tips for each unit in the guides (Really helped me with some of the OKW units). As the title suggests I was wondering if their is any Australian competitive games? I would love to be able to get good enough to join these competitive matches but so far I could only find Europe and North American matches. Any comments helping me on this topic would be great
Cheers guys,
Dolan
No there isn't any Australian COH2 competitive tournaments/games. I wouldn't bother trying to compete in overseas ones, US/UK etc unless you fancy getting up at 3 or 4 in the morning just to play COH2. That's why me an my Aussie clan mates don't really bother with those tournaments. |
Can anyone help me with how Vet 3 rifles in late game deal with other Axis veteran infantry like Vet 3 Pgrens, Vet Grens with MG42 and Ubersoldaten?
I just played a game and got raped really hard by Ostheer infantry late game as Rifles did not stand up to them once they got veterancy. |
Suggesting that Puma Aimed Shot is a good garrison clear is pretty silly. It's true. It's unintentional though and he's talking about OKW design.
It's a bug. It will get patched out.
It also needs vet 1 to become relevant so your anti-garrison is tied to like... 8+ minutes before you can reliably deal with a garrison. Granted it instant-kills all duded in the garrison.
I am honestly shocked to hear you don't like the Infantry Support gun for this purpose. I find it is unparalleled in at the task of tearing down buildings. It chunks off building health and does great damage to the troops inside. It's pretty good at this task.
I find that in team games the Walking Stuka makes any building a tomb. Even this counter can take some time to pay off but it is fairly effective and safe to get early. A quick walking Stuka can sometimes work in 1v1s against Soviets. It's an option with relative safety due to the high cost of light armor for Soviets. Realistically you will not get a fast vehicle hunter for Soviets until T-70 which can hit around 200+ fuel.
The US pose more issues because they're such a double threat of light armor and superior infantry.
This is sort of true but I think the Jagdpanzer offers a good alternative. It's hard to get one in 1v1s though and the light vehicle metagame of US forces players to go Mechanized Regiment first to compete.
The Jagdpanzer has 60 range just like the Jackson. Puma has 50 and thus actually gets out-ranged.
This is an issue but I feel it is supposed to be mitigated by superior infantry. Panzerfusiliers and Obersoldaten are really good against infantry for their cost. To a lesser extent Fallscrimjagers can carry you against infantry as well. Leveraging your superior infantry is always a great challenge granted.
I am interested to see the new Panzer II some more in action. I still think that it comes far too late to be particularly viable but I did get the thing in 1v1s occasionally already. It is an interesting little tank and 80 health will go a long way to help it survive. AT guns were a little too good at two-shotting it before. The Panzer II and the Walking Stuka are the best anti-infantry armor you'll get until the heaviest hitters.
I can't agree with the caches idea at all. Remove it from all sides but then give it to OKW? Ehhhhhhhh. Just remove them from all sides if you're going to go to that extent.
So OKW's only reliable garrison counter will be patched out? Wow, OKW is surely fucked then. |
Do you know the Puma has a 45 muni Vet One ability that clears garrisons in one shot. You really need to plant mines and get a versatile fight force.
1 x SPio
1 x Schwimm
2 x Volk
1 x Puma
2 x Raken AT Gun
1 x MG34
1 x Obersoldaten
2 x Falls
Then tech to a Panther. Use the Puma Vet 1 ability to kill garrisons. Use mines to slow blobs of rifles and injure halftracks and tanks. |
Yes well it becomes a beast with veterancy! at 45 muni a shot its kinda like a canister shot. |
And what makes you believe volks should stand up to them?
You are supposed to sit behind cover at all times with volks(no cover is no excuse, you can make it yourself) and support them with other squads and Kubel/sturmpios.
They didn't worked alone in vCoH, they won't work alone here.
They are basically axis version of conscripts, except volks do scale into late game.
Use multitude of doctrinal infantry or go for ubersoldaten.
They didn't worked alone in vCoH, they won't work alone here.
You're an idiot.

Should i just attack move to get there? I might get there easier. Like sovs do
Hilarious, now my signature! |
They don't provide any auras to nearby units like the British officers in CoH. They are just their own squad, some of them have special abilities.
Maybe you didn't read it correctly
"The Captain and his command squad can improve the actions of nearby infantry and are heavily armed. Gains veterancy from nearby allies. Effective at medium range vs. infantry and vehicles."
That is pretty clear, they must give off an aura, or how else can they improve the actions of infantry. This will definitely encourage blobbing, because how else will all your infantry improve? Also how else will the unit gain veterancy? |
Then you better switch to easier strat game like farmville, because you're going to flood forums with tears on WF.
What faction will you play in WF Katitof? |
Nice post, but unfortunately nobody is listening. There's no way Relic will make such changes any more, the only thing that is going to happen are minor balance changes and they will be few and far between.
You're right the Soviet faction is a complete fail on behalf of Relic, well COH2 is really, but for me the Soviet faction design and gimmicky abilities combined with their heavy reliance on doctrines is what makes the game a mediocre one instead of being a great game. Then you have all the badly designed game mechanics to go with the poor faction design, ie pathing, at nades and fausts, button, poor designed maps, mines, and units with one shot wiping potential.
The Relic introduced P2W Commanders that are intentionally imbalanced so people will buy them, it's good marketing that's all, just money. Now with the release of Western Front Armies Relic has the chance to make even more money by making them OP so people will buy the expansion. I mean who would buy it if they introduced two new weak factions?
Unfortunately if you are looking for a game with strategic depth real time, then COH2 is not the game you are looking for. But if you are looking for a game that requires superior tactics to win, then COH2 is certainly the game for you. |
