Thread: Armor Company is Highly Overrated3 May 2016, 06:21 AM Remove crush from the M10. But leave crush on the Panther? Cromwell? Every other tank? Good one. Crush is frustrating but not that big of a deal and can certainly be countered. Playing a 1v1 awhile ago where I got over zealous in my crushing, so the guy intentionally blobbed up and baited me into a mine / faust, then blew away my M10 with Pak-40s. It was a great play. Crush is one of the more micro-intensive elements of this game, both using it and countering it. Every vehicle can do it to an extent, and it makes no sense to remove it from the M10 because it's good / better at it than everything else (although the Cromwell gives it a run for its money, T-34/76 ain't bad either). The thing about USF is that the LT costs enough fuel that it often creates and either/or situation as far as the captain tier is concerned. If the LT was made cheap fuel-wise, it would for sure be used more. It would certainly help break the monotony of rifles in the earlier game. And though I do like AT guns arriving later rather than sooner, but we already have t0 raketens and ZiS readily available so that's kind of moot. But I'm also crazy and think that only the Lieutenant should have smoke grenades, without needing grenades researched. I pretty much love the LT tier, especially the .50 cal HMG and M20. But it's such a gamble going there because it delays any actual substantive AT. You had a bit of a safety net because even if LT tier goes poorly for you, the Captain won't follow too much later w/ Zooks to push off a 222 or Luchs. But now no Zooks for Captain means you have to wait for 57 mm or tech Weapon Rack. It probably makes the most sense to go LT / dick around / Weapon Rack and throw Zooks on REs or something, then maybe Captain if you must, but you're really delaying medium armor at this point. The 57 mm should go to T0 and unlock when you tech either LT or Captain. I think you'd see a lot more diversity in USF play if this were the case. In: COH2 Balance

It won't. I tested the balance preview in the cheat mod with a .50 cal HMG in a building vs. a Luchs. Frontal armor, even with AP rounds, the .50 cal barely did any damage. The only time the .50 cal was able to reliably damage / kill the Luchs was firing into its rear armor for awhile. The .50 cal's AP performance is a joke compared to the incendiary AP rounds of the MG42, which (in cheat mod) handled the Luchs quite easily. The Captain also does not have Bazookas in the Balanced Preview (intended) and he cannot purchase his own Zook package (removed from patch notes, so maybe intended?). Thus USF will have no AT other than snares until they tech Bazookas or Captain --> 57 mm. I would be fine with this, because OKW is in the same boat now, but OKW's ATG is in T0, and USF's is locked behind the Captain. I don't know how you can survive long enough as USF without any real AT if you try to go LT, M20, maybe an HMG, then Captain, then 57 mm, or Weapon Racks somewhere in there. In: COH2 Balance

They might slow them down, but it's simply not enough to hold them back for more than a minute. They desperately need a form of reliable AT. Volksgrenadiers are currently in a great place, but as long as they have no reliable, mobile AT support, all they can really do is just sit there. You are going to have to adapt to using micro and combined arms to kill tanks. 2-3 Volks will no longer be able to A-move and shoot a Pershing down to half health w/ good RNG. You say "fausts don't help." Yes, yes they do. Even top Allied players drive their vehicles (from UC to heavies) into Faust range all the time. The OKW ATG may be crap compared to Pak-40, but it can freaking cloak. One Faust + 2 cloaked ATG (properly positioned) = dead Allied light / medium tank. PIATs aren't reliable and Zooks lack the penetration and damage against high armored / high health Axis tanks. Soviets / UKF and lesser extent USF have always relied on proper use of combined arms (snare / ATG / infantry support) to kill Axis tanks. I don't know if you've played a lot of Allies but what you're struggling with as OKW is something Soviet has been doing since 2013. In: Lobby

Played a little PVP this evening. I think the USF Mortar is perfect. It can definitely get some kills but the quick smoke screen it lays down really complements Riflemen and helps them push or negate an MG. Not that they couldn't do that before after teching Grenades, but obviously this allows you to save some munitions, especially with MGs in buildings. Smoke the building / maybe move in for a frag kill w/ Rifles / maybe just let the Mortar plug away. Nice to have actual options w/ USF. Looking forward to seeing how top players utilize the M2 in conjunction with Rifle play. In: Lobby

It doesn't matter if it is Volks or Grens who fire the faust since the stats are identical. I'ts been this way ever since relic changed fausts to not damage the engine of tanks unless their health drops below a certain percent. This is incorrect. Just tested in cheat mod w/ the May Balance Preview and Volks' snare engine damages full health Jackson whereas Grens' snare does not. It is a bug that Volks can one-shot snare full health medium armor+. In: Lobby

So once again you and katitof fail but that's fairly common. Yeah but they don't share the same role. The M10 is a cheap and efficient tank destroyer and the Puma is intended more as a hard counter to Allied light vehicles that can also help kill medium armor like the AEC. Their costs may not reflect their performance perfectly relative to one another but so what? Those little imbalances exist all over the game. You're gonna tell me the 4-man .50 cal HMG should be 280 MP while the MG42 is only 260? Or that the 222 should be 280 / 15 while the M20 Utility Car is a whopping 340 / 20? It's not like OST doesn't have their own cheap tank destroyer already - the Stug, that with target weak point can practically 1v1 a Pershing. I guess I just don't get why the M10 being "better" than the Puma is an issue given their defined roles. In: COH2 Balance
