Thread: Penals, the Elephant in the room4 Jan 2021, 13:40 PM What if Penals were in the HQ, but you had to have T1 or T2 up to build them? Making them more accessible would fix most of their problems I think. Or maybe take notes from US teching. For example, for T1, the only available unit is Penals, unless you upgrade, and T2, only Zis. Make them each a bit cheaper, but you can only tech T3 if you build both, or fully upgrade one. I feel like the only good option is to shift the M-42 or AT Partisans into T1, so you're not forced to go for PTRS. Like they all show up as blank or something? So you can still see and respond to threats, but you don't know what they are without looking at them? Hope someone understands what I mean. In team games, it pretty much shuts down allied indirect fire once it gets vet, if not dealt with. AFAIK it even counter-barrages the Zis barrage which just seems silly. If it doesn't get the support weapon on the first counter-barrage, it's highly likely to cause lots of collateral damage, since the scatter is large and the unit density in team games (where it's common for there to be multiple LefHs) is high. I think this change is effective enough to promote usage since they no longer get swatted by double AT guns, but it's only a small amount of health and EFA don't have vehicle crews so it's not obnoxious.
