Imagine putting free smoke upon retreat on, say, Obers or Falls so that you could retreat them and cover a whole tank battalion reversing. Just imagine. Those two units you mentioned do have smoke grenades, so yes, you could use them to cover retreats. Even better because the blendkorpers do damage so you can't push through them, and you don't have to retreat the squad to 'use' the smoke. In: COH2 Balance

Sure increase its cost maybe and give it a vet bonus or something, but it's an important tool. It stays viable all game with utility, which is a core part of Soviet faction design. In fact, I also think Soviet Sniper flare should be given the riflemen snare treatment. Instead of unlocking at vet 1 it should unlock at a certain tech building. Especially so now that sniper vision was rightfully nerfed. So if you chose a commander with no recon plane, you're not shit out of luck. Vision is extremely important, and no one is going to rebuild a T-70 in the late game, when the T-34 is not much more expensive and needed to fight Panzers. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Commander Update Beta 2021 - Soviet Feedback31 Mar 2021, 23:57 PM Defensive Doctrine having 3 different slots taken up with single support weapon call-ins seems a little lackluster now, especially compared to the new Soviet Reserve ability which bundles a maxim and a ZiS for 350mp (which I think needs some munition cost like US weapon drops), especially since the ZiS is superior to the piddly little 45mm. Could maybe condense them into 1 or 2 slots and just make them buildable from the main HQ when you hit 2 CP or something? Infantry Repair tactics or the the repair station from Soviet Industry would be a good fit for a free slot, just as utility. Don't want to go overboard and shove any extra heavy tanks or airstrikes in. Also don't entirely agree with the IL-2 rocket penetration nerf. It's already a little finnicky to use. On top of T-34 ram cheese being (rightfully) removed, you gotta hope you're close enough to the map edge, and there's no tall objects in the way ready to gobble up your rockets. 340 penetration right down to 80 penetration seems a little extreme. Hopefully we can find a middle ground, maybe add extra deflection damage, or inflicting a blind tank critical? In: COH2 Balance
