I cant believe I have to explain to a 27 year old that a wikipedia link is not considered a decent and usable source.
You simply dont know the credentials of the people that write on such a website. For example, it could be you that wrote a part of that page... |
I am 27 and am American
That would partially explain why you think a wikipedia link is proper support for your argument... |
Amongst specific statistics, I like to see the faction chosen in a third/fifth decisive game. This tells us something about player preference and thus implied balance.
Most other statistics are quite useless as you have to account for to many variables (map, doctrine, units produced, player skill level, match number, match duration etc.), which results in ambigious conclusions. |
I don't think the new DLC is P2W. I think it's just another open and broad sign of the constantly devolving gaming market, releasing games that are unfinished, buggy, unbalanced, and/or boring, expecting the game to last on fan love till they patch in all of the features. DoW 2 had an observer mode. DoW 2 (post Vanilla) had 1v1's, 2v2's, and 3v3's.
DoW 2 had a semi-decent ladder. Relic knows these things are necessary to not only make a good RTS, but a good competitive game. And I think we can all honestly say that they failed on some of those things. Now in terms of day 1 commanders. They suck. They're just the commanders you already had in vanilla. Which begs the thought of why you even made them? Why not just make a customizable commander system at that point, if you're just going to lazily copy and paste all of your commanders' abilities together, rebrand them with a new name, and ship them out asking people for 2.00 just to get the same old abilities, just in different combinations. CoH 2 is a disappointing game, whoring itself out to the casual crowd who will only play the single player, or co-op missions, and never play the multiplayer. I think the game has plenty of potential. Anyone who's talked to me on streams or anything knows that I think CoH 2 is filled with potential. But relic needs to get off their asses, and actually do what Blizzard did. Go to your top players, and ASK what made the first game good. ASK them what units were just generally OP. ASK THEM what made the first game one of their favourite games of all time. Cause as devs, blizzard didn't know with SC, so they asked their top players. And what happened. Starcraft 2 is a great E-sport, with a huge scene. With huge thousand dollar tournaments. What's CoH 2 gonna have? The TFN tourny this weekend? That's it? I mean I can't see anyone really making tournaments that go as high as TFN's tourny in terms of prize money. CoH 2 needs some things that just need to be changed or just straight removed. Relic needs a real meeting with the major CoH 2 players, and ask them what about the game is OP, what us UP, what do they like, what do they not like, and do everything in their power to make things happy for them. Cause they're the guys who make the meta game. They're the guys who show some of the best strats. We can't sit here and have them try to do it on their own. They're all competent players and devs I'm sure. But competitive players/devs they are not. Who knows. Maybe within a few months, CoH 2 will be the best RTS in the world, outranking SC2 in competitive format. Until then though, I am a very disappointed customer in terms of the business model of CoH 2, and where Relic has gone with it.
Well said, Jahwon. Although...Relic did meet with some of the major CoH2 players. Next to that, your comparison with SC2; chapeau chapeau, very relevant and original. It is alright that you are dissapointed, I mean, at least you gave the game a fair chance right?
1st you are not paying for 6 years you are paying for 2 , every respectable game has an expansion in 2 years time to keep it going and make money to keep the support rolling and generate further profits .
You are not paying for any time period as these expenditures are considered "sunk costs", which are not related to the period of playing the game.
On another note, place yourself in Relic's position. Why wouldn't they continue to sell more DLC content to people who have payed the current price of the game. They are likely to spend a few more dollars/euros/wons. |
Make Opels blip on the minimap with a "$" sign
How appropriate... |
the problem is that EVERY anti-cheat can be circumvented.
there will always be cheats.
It is not a problem, but a given that every anti-cheat can be circumvented. However, this is no reason to decrease investments in anti-cheat. For example: there will always be crime. Would you suggest decreasing police and judicial spendings is an effective way of dealing with this (abstaining from legalization, which cant be done with cheats either)?
Your alternative does not prevent mass cheating in the short run and the quality of the patch updates to prevent cheating in the long run are quite costly as well. |
Also globally known for creating airplanes, telephones, nuclear weapons, lunar landers, laser guided bombs, and the modern PC among many other things.
Once again, you are right. Graham Bell, Albert Einstein and Robert Oppenheimer are all born Americans. Next to that, airplanes, lunar landers, laser guided bombs and the modern PC are all invented overnight with solely American input...
...but this might all be the other way around.
Please note my original comment was aimed at your typical (average) American, which you most definately belong to, Basilone. A little less patriotism, a little more perspective would suit you m8.
My apologies to Tribalbob, but at the same time my congratiolations for not being an American (Im kidding Basilone) . |
Who is ignorant- the American that "doesn't know where Austria is" or the *insert nationality here* that makes up false factoids about people from other countries.
You are right, Americans are well known for their geographical awareness. Furthermore, Americans know way more about any other country than foreigners know about the U.S. On top of that, Americans are globally known for their excellent educational system...
...but this might all be the other way around. |
Riddler notably is repeatedly banned from streams of active casters for being a blatant troll, which he is demonstrating above as well.
You did post what you have posted, so I am entitled to respond to it. It is hard to point out the two of you agree on some points without saying you clearly misread what he wrote. I apologize if you feel like this was too personal.
On the other hand, you assume a lot about other people. To rectify your statement about me: its only until very recent that I started typing in stream chats, because I never really felt the urge. I've only been banned once in a period of over 2 years, which was based on an accident. |
Nullist did not properly read Hissy's post, nor responded with logical argumentation in effect of that, nor made accurate assumptions about Hissy, nor understood the sarcasm about AC's on CoH1. |
