Angry Joe gets angry about DLC commanders, surprised? nope.
Relic makes it very easy for people to criticize this game. It would also have been interesting to watch Angry Joe play against players with DLC commanders that have the Tiger Ace or the Crocodile. |
I don't wanna derail though, but it's perfectly fine to tell the history, even if protagonist(s) are bad guys.
I have seen the Generation War series. I think that the story would be more interesting if the hero is a good guy when his national leaders are the bad guys. That can create interesting contrasts. I think that the best way to do this is to tell a story about one Prussian officer who has everything before the war, and who lives through whole war and sees every horror that is possible for a man to experience, and who in the end loses everything. And through this whole war is a good guy and who tries to do his best, and who is a feared warrior on the battlefield. |
It's amazing how people still don't realize the gameplay flaws. CoH is a franchise based on WW2. The Germans lost. Period. There is no reason to start a campaign as an aggressor when you already know you won't succeed anyway.
What are you going to do? Alter history? No. Therefore you will play in Stalingrad and you will lose. Your effort will not be reflected in the outcome of the campaign. This is highly unsatisfying for the player and a waste of time for the developer. Get over it.
Company of Heroes 2 is seen from company perspective. Is it possible that a single commander can win engagements and even then the whole army loses the war. It is possible to create missions where you can succeed in doing great things in this context. For example hold lines until civilians can flee, hinder breakthrough, do a counter attack that hinders a great catastrophe, help other units, and disobey orders to do something good. It is possible to create a game where the player can be a great commander even that the player knows that his country loses the war. It is important to create a good story. |
It is possible to depict the career of a German officer, who belongs to the "old-school": A Prussian aristocrat from a prominent upper class family, who lives in a mansion somewhere near Köningsberg before the war, and who succeeds in every battle, but loses almost everything during the war and then in the end becames a prisoner of war. That would not be so big risk, because they who belong to this old-school category didn't like Hitler, and Hitler didn't like them, and they usually had high moral standards, and because of it came in conflict with the Nazis. |
It would be difficult to make a campaign for the Germans because of the horrible things the Nazis did, but I think Relic should take a risk. They could depict a German officer's life through the WW2, and it would be very exciting. Like the TV-series Unsere Mütter, unsere Vätern (Generation War). |
I have done the same with the Armor Company commander's howitzer barrage. It's extremely inaccurate. You can target the enemy that stands in front of you, and then the barrage lands on your own troops. That's why I don't like the commander. The other USF commanders' barrages are more accurate. |
Reminds me of the dark days of USF.
In response to asking for help on how to kill a tank...I got a 100% serious "If you need to deal with axis armor steal a pak"
I steal almost everything that Germans drop if I play as USF. They have good equipment. It takes longer to rush into a fast American HMG, than steal one from the Germans. |
i just tested the method you suggested to me a match ago against human opponents and it is not fast enough because by the time that thing hits the field the enemy has things like Paks, panzershrecks prowling the area. would have been nice the M20 was moved to T0 in order to level the playing field because axis seem to have just about everything they need at T0 which is quite ironic.
They can't have so much AT-options in the field when the Utility Car arrives, if you go 3xRifle + LT + Utility Car. The point is to cruise the Utility Car behind MGs and mortars, but when you see anti-tank weapons, just smoke (be ready with the hotkey) and retreat, and begin harassing units that are alone on the battlefield. The Utility Car works best only in a brief window of time, and against an enemy that builds to many MGs and mortars and pioneers. If the enemy becomes scared when he sees the Utility Car bringing destruction and death, and start building to many AT-weapons, for example several PAKs, then you have other options to deal with them. The point is to react to what the enemy does. The Utility Car is a good option against MGs, pioneers and mortars. |
Team Carotene will win. They could launch an unfair and brutal attack only against HelpingHans (at least Luvnest and Jesulin against him), and the other team can't response to that. That would be my strategy. |
Relic could just employ CaptainSPrice and Cruzz, and the problem is solved. |
