As it stands, more or less the entire Soviet faction is an exploit. |
Good effort A_E. Will catch up on it later. |
I've seen T70 spam in 2 v 2, the little fucking daleks are awesome. And, yeah, a PAK stands no chance.
But guess what? Cloaking your AT guns is a *Russian* doctrine ability, to add to all their other magic powaz.
It's tough playing Sovs... which win button do I press or do I blame my loss on that OP German strafe ability? |
^ This. The lack of a *lobby* system with options like setting high resources and non-VP wins so you can browse games is hampering the game. The use of in-game Steam friends only is clunky and doesn't really help you meet new players like you could in vCoH. |
OK, I'm exaggerating. It was four Maxims. |
why would he build t 34's
I have 3 fuel. My only counter is a PAK, which is about as much use as an ashtray on a motorcycle.
Why wouldn't you? |
I try to be thoughtful and anticipate my enemy. I try to cap intuitively and use the best micro I am able to.
Then the Russians build five Maxims, dump them in buildings, deny me the fuel and gang-bang me with cheap T-34s. |
Tenshi, you are in fact me. This is exactly how I felt.
I'm afraid for me it was back to watching replays and, yes, playing as Sovs to immerse myself in their innate cheesiness.
The Russians really have it all: they can tier switch much easier than Wehr (who in turn have to react to the Sovs - for example if they make weapon teams you pretty much *have* to go T2 to get an AC to drive around them) and their infantry is more impressive in scope and utility. They can easily go T3 T34 spam, then augment it with a call-in supertank. Or they can do that annoying campy thing with ZiS, MGs and SU-85s, easily the most OP unit in CoH2. Oh, and they can transform their 'conscripts' (they are the ones with the modal fireup and fireball powaz, right?) into supermen with SMGs and 'Summon Green Cover' spells (aka 'Hit the Dirt').
Let's face it, the Soviets were designed by Chuck Norris.
So as a Wehr player of average skill you have to adapt and... get your ass kicked.
Some tips:
1. Gren spamming into a clean T3. This can work if your micro is up to it. Mine ain't.
2. Straight-to-T2 / fast AC / attempt at map control. As above.
3. Map control on a small vector with key resources. Requires intimate knowledge of mapping and a potion of luck.
4. HMG in buildings for early lockdown. Tricky, and vulnerable to 'conscript' fireball powaz but I've had some luck with it.
Lastly, seeing as your views suggest that you in fact live *in my head* please PM me, I will Steam Friend you and we can lose together while posting increasingly bitter comments about balance in this game for those of us who cannot achieve 10000 APM.
Best regards!

Obviously a lot of the community here are more focussed on the competitive aspects of CoH2 (hey, I am too) but I have to do a shout out to Relic. As a more casual player who enjoys the occasional compstomp I've had a blast with the ToW (loved that German sniper mission, had loads of fun).
I hope you keep them going. I *really* like the way the tech levels are tied to the year, i.e. the 1941 infantry AT is limited to AT rifles for example. And the German tanks suck, the Crimea level is brutal.
So I'm loving ToW, I *know* you must have Kursk and Stalingrad tucked up your sleeves somewhere: take my money.

Just won a 1 v 1 on Kholodny Firma spring using these tactics... 3 x scripts, upgrade to healing, no mollies, map control then fast T-34s...
Cheers Seph. |
