I know its uncomfortable for some around here and thus it got ignored as I posted it last time. No problem I just post it again
There is a unit in the same spot as Brummbar, but with worse overall performance. Its out of question to think about buffs for Brummbar without thinking about buffing the Sherman 105mm Dozer. So take it into account.
I like dozer more. It has a turret and seems more durable. Projectile speed and range also seem better. It will shoot at 4 men squads. It wins in my personal ranking. |
Allies have also given plenty of hard counters to these support teams.
This is another very important yet neglected balance issue. It could be said that a long time ago when mg42 would just completely shut off part of the map (for example, it had no delay when changing sides in a building!) allied factions got a lot of counter mg abilities (smoke, phosphorous smoke, etc.). Most of those abilities and attributes (e.g. ability to remain pinned relatively long without model losses) are still avaliable to them while osther can't deal with mgs in so many ways. Now we have each faction with similar support weapons just with slightly different timing. |
Lets just mount a 17 pdr on a churchill crocodile and have it tow a land mattress.
If you price it right... it could lead to so interesting stall tactics.
What if we made a bulldozer chrchill that could shovel emplacements all around the map repositioning them? |
Seriously, dude? Can you provide a patch note about buffing centaur in the last 6 month? And centaur is an AI, AA tank that cant fight tank, how can it translate into "good all round tank"
My bad - (I'm at work ) I meant the last tier comet of course. |
Its an argument exclusively against snipers, pretty much all AoE in game was balanced to not wipe non clumped up 4 man squads.
Other problems exist - need to retreat more quickly, with one model you lose 25% of dps, more risky to chase vehicles with shrecked panzergrens, etc. It is not only sniper. |
may be i'm missed the patch, but what buff for centaur ? newly ?
It is better against inf., so it is a very good all round tank now. |
A) Grens have damage reduction and Ost can play with larger squads of all kinds if you want to avoid having 4 men.
True - but only at vet 3 and they got it instead of other stat that got nerfed. Still these squads are 4 men. Tis is related to more problems related to recrewing weapons, losing 25% dps with just one model killed on approach, the need to retreat sooned - before damaging your opponent much, and so on. It relates to close combat wxpensive squads such as panzergrens too.
B) Thefuk does other tanks existing matter when the point is that the MGs on the cromwell are currently only firing confetti
I'd say it's true only against OKW with more squads that have more models. That's why it is so difficult to balance it out. But you have the next tier with churchill and comet. Maybe that is why crom is sort of stopgap until you get sth bigger. |
I don't know what alternate reality there is where sturmpios are not potent CQC squads at any time point. But particularly since their vet shakeup, they are currently a huge threat in this timeline. Early access to the stun grenade has helped them in a big way.
As for the Cromwell - 'allies fight 4 man' is an argument that hasn't been relevant since 2014. Ostruppen are 6. Elite infantry grens and pios are 5. Volks are 5. Pfusis are 5 or 6. Jager command is 5.
Even 4 man grens now have a recieved damage reduction (after rangers lost it) that means single explosions now are much harder to wipe models with.
An MG buff to let the cromwell do anything when the main gun isn't hitting is just a baseline QoL improvement. Nobody liked all or nothing tank shells. See the t-34/76, which is cheaper, but also has a good mg profile.
4 men squads is an argument - especially for ost. You seem to forget about stock heavy churchill you have, and new buffed centaur. |
You're thinking of the Stug III ausf E assault gun.
The Brummbar is underperforming atm, either 40 ranger (+5) or a bit more armour or smaller target size.
Or faster projectile speed. Attack ground predicting where troops will be in 2-3 seconds is just ridiculous. Especially if you compare it to scotts, for example. |
I remember those old maps. They were so cool. I wish they were many more maps on automatch. I don't need balanced maps. It's just so much fun to play and explore imo. |
