In this post that you mention I have just said that it should stay like that, because someone else tried to convince me that IS-2 should get beaten by a panther. I'm not a native englishspeaker but a sentence "Panther shouldn't 1v1 an IS-2" means that I think panther should lose. It doesn't state that Panther currently wins, does it? I meant that it should be that way. In: COH2 Balance

Also Tiger despite the same cost wins 2/3 times. I have done 12 test fights and IS-2 only succeded in 4 of them. It's just the IS-2s crap damage per shot and very long reload that make him lose more often. In: COH2 Balance

Vipper suggested that Panther should do a better job at killing IS-2, and I explained why this should not be the case. Can you please stop picking some lines from 2 pages ago? I have only mentioned that IS-2 despite it's higher price and CP requirements gets heavily crippled by a single panther. I have also mentioned that KV-2 does a better job in that department, which is laughable. That's why I want IS-2 to stand up from the rest and be stronger but at a higher cost. In: COH2 Balance

How is that misleading? It's the only vehicle in soviet arsenal capable of at least trying to fight a Tiger. SU-85s require way more micro to defeat a Tiger, and even then you will need support. Panther on the other hand can tank a lot of damage, but due to it's versitility and mobility it just shouldn't own a tank that costs 50 fuel more, requires 12 CP and has a number limit! Oh maybe it's not advisable when you oppose some crap T-34s and Shermans, but when IS-2 appeears - a tank that is only present in 2 commanders, you should adapt to the situation and make a second one? How can that not be obvious to you? Why do you think that your one universal strategy should always defeat the enemy despite their joice to waste a lot of resources on a damn super heavy? Come on man, I know you have a long history of complaining about allies being OP, but the game is about adapting to situation, not whining that "IS-2 combined with SU-85 kills my tanks" because you must fight them from the front and you can't think of a better strategy than overpowering your opponent. Oh and actually I've just tested that. Face to face 2 panthers will still kill the IS-2 before the first one of them is dead, and it will leave a 1v1 situation when SU-85 fights a full HP panther. lol In: COH2 Balance

You can still make multiple Panthers and 2 Panthers will always win, Panther with proper support will win too, but single panther should get wrecked similary to a single Su-85 while fighting a Tiger. Panther is not a hard counter, it's very potent when used in a pair or with some other AT support. That's how the game works In: COH2 Balance

It should not 1v1 them, they are spammable for a reason. You can also use it in conjunction with jp4 so that when Panther flanks an IS-2 Jp4 will shoot it from the front. That's how you're supposed to kill a heavy tank, overwhelm it. 2 SU-85s without support can get beaten up by the Tiger too, they are just more based on range and pen rather than armour and maneuverability, so they are used diffrently. It had siginifcant problems with reload time and adjusting the barrel. In WW2 tank engagements the gun would be slightly adjusted after the first miss. That was however a huge problem for the IS-2 since the barrel had to be put into the neutral position to be reloaded and then readjusted to fire again. That lead to quite a slow rate of fire and low accuracy. The thing was built to break through defenses, not fight tanks. But hey, big gun. Must be good. As for gameplay and balance: Why would it perform better than the Tiger if both vehicles cost the same? Why does Tiger preform way better than IS-2 currently, if they both cost the same? And by the way, I said that is should do more damage per shot and BE MORE COSTY while having lower rate of fire. Why don't you just read my initial post? In: COH2 Balance

The IS-2 you're talking about is the model 1944 IS-2 which is indeed the King Tiger's equal. IS-2 model 1943 (also called IS-122) is an IS-1 with the 122mm gun. It gan be distinguished by it's front hull armour, which is shaped similary to Tiger I/KV-1 (it has those weird stairs). IS-2 model 1944 which we have in game, has one large slope at the front of the hull. Thread: Current state of the IS-21 Mar 2021, 14:36 PM Jump back to quoted post1 Mar 2021, 13:43 PMHannibal If we drop all the stuff that is doctrinal, what is left in your list as dedicated AT units is the JP4, StuG, Pak40 and PSchrecks. JP4 and StuG can work but only with RNG on your side. They are very unreliable in a single engagement, that's why people prefer Panthers. The StuG is even quite exposed in later stages due to shorter range. PaK40 can work although the IS2 is decent against infantry. But Schrecks are the last thing you should run into an IS2 unless you're desperate. What should be Axis' response to a heavy tank then? Panthers can dive them and then use blitz, they are very potent at flanking and supporting the KT. All of that and you can also spam them. Pak 40s have better range, pen and a very useful AT ability that soviets don't have. They can be very efficient at covering your Panthers when they start to take a beating. If situation gets sticky you can always use your schrecks and fausts (which both are better than their allied counterparts). Also doctrinal heavy tank destroyers exist, and they hard counter the IS-2 by a large margin. You should just combine your forces and use a tactic to kill a damn heavy tank. Also I'm not asking for IS-2 to be a next konigstiger. I just want to to be on a slightly higher level than the KV-2, as it would make it unique and more often used (appearing later, but also being stronger). IS-2 is only present in 2 doctrines and even when someone plays with them it's VERY rarely picked. Both sides should have a tank that forces you to change your thinking when you see it being used. Adaptation is a very important skill in RTS games. Also I just want it to do big boom with lower Rof, come on In: COH2 Balance
