Its certainly not as overpowered as people make them to be.
Against HMGs, what actually prevents you from tracking weapons health?
I have fought both with and against PTRS spam, I have not met a SINGLE player yet who would repair HMGs or even paid attention to weapon health, meanwhile I am using HMGs as the devs explained and intended, together with spotting pios, I am able to suppress conblob from afar, when move in with pios and rack up kills forcing him to retreat well before my HMG drops too low, after engagement I repair it asap and reposition/reinforce(as I use 251 often).
Its a matter of adaptation first and foremost and just because they can fight LMG blobs now doesn't make them OP.
I can see a cost increase to PTRS, but nothing more really.
Such eficiency. And while supressing that blob with your allmighty MG42 nobody stormed it with "oooowaaaa" from a different direction and lolotov it or chase it to death on its retreat path, isn't it? You must be in top 10 then because, ya kow, for me it doesn't work so nicely as you described, the only efficient counter to PTRS cons blob as Ostheer is the counterblob with lmgs - while picking CAS too. That's for ostheer, 'cause as OKW I didn't realy find a cure, the closest thing was the counterblob (what a surprise) made from volks and JLIs but it didn't win me that game though the amount of damage I inflicted was huge. Katiushas don't forgive. Because, of course, Soviet player has every option in the book. I'll probably find a better way for O(P)W (lol) too , but I am certain that won't involve dreams and fairy tells with MGs and spotting pios. It will involve something from the real life. |
4 grens counter single MG.
4 volks counter single MG.
4 rifles counter single MG.
Why 4 cons shouldn't?
I don't see many people complaining that 1 AT gun can't stop 4 tanks/light vehicles by itself even if the AT gun is PaK43.
Aham. So PTRS con spam in this little nice doctrine tank hunters, it's balanced, isn't it? |
I'm too tired to write something very coherent, but here it goes: The problem with Shock troopers is that they are too easy to use. They are too effective at just charging straight into enemy fire and forcing retreats.
They are very durable. They are as durable as nearly 10 conscripts (more than 9, they have 1.5 armor but don't have the bullet magnetism of conscripts who have a >1 received accuracy modifier). Their high model count leads to low probability of model sniping as you see with charging Panzergrenadiers.
But more importantly, they deliver their devastating DPS at a range where cover bonuses do not apply anymore. Why is this a problem? Well, with the abundance of yellow cover from the midgame onward (Even a simple pineapple grenade creates enough yellow cover for a whole squad!), you will often take a lot less damage on the approach with shocktroopers eventhough you are charging over open ground. This is because you get the full benefit of yellow crater cover whilst charging. So all your opponents fancy long range DPS is severely reduced. The shock troopers close range DPS however, is not.
And every time I said Shocks are overperforming untill now, I was called a nazi fanboy. Nice. |
Im sorry but what? The only OKW units that got a nerf was obersoldaten, and volksgrenadiers. The volksgrenadier was easily compensated by the raketenwerfer buff, and the ostheer blitz nerf is nothing compared to the MG-42 and sniper buffs which considerably buffed the ostheer early game to a more reasonable level.
I don't know, but in my opinion the nerf to B4 alone makes alot more axis strategies viable in 2v2+
Related to OPness, both soviet and okw received aprox. the same amount of nerfs. The only difference is that Soviets have more choices than OKW has. So, while OKW lost it's OPness through these nerfs, Soviets didn't, which made them the OP faction of the moment. And they are an OP cake right now, with a nice candy on top which is called Tank Hunters doctrine. |
Austerlitz, is tiring to explain people why Ostheer is currently bullshit. Let them enjoy a while the OPness of their beloved faction. There are 3 things that are currently working against IS2, end of story. And they are: Elefant, Tiger Ace and PAK 43. If you don't own Elite Troops, make it 2. If your opponent isn't a total idiot, remove PAK 43 too. So that left you with one reliable option, the Elefant, which meas you are right. Tiger is simply retarded currently. Yes, it will lose 10 times of 10. Yes, you will not ever face a sinle IS2 with your PAK and Tiger. To put it simply, ZIS+IS2 > PAK+Tiger.
GreenDevil mentioned CAS. CAS is okay but it only works on small maps.
Yes, currently playing with Ostheer is the most difficult thing you won't get to much wins. |
Well after watching the game it's obvious that Queen has far more experience in 1v1s than Alex. Besides, I felt Alex was a little timid. Don't look at a player card before playing with that player . This helped you in your match against OZ, you were far more agressive.
Anyways, no doubt Queen is a better player, I even learned a trick (that smoke on OKW T4 - I didn't think untill today you can do it with your shermann).
I cannot abstain to give you a piece of advice Alex for your OKW 1v1s. It isn't allways a good idea to start with T2 (T2 for me = the Jagdpanzer building). It isn't allways a good idea to place it behind some house without permanently keeping a unit in that house (preferably raketen or HMG). An enemy flamers engie squad placed inside can be devastating. I understand why you allways start with T2 (at least in these 2 games I saw) - it's the best start if you wanna blob. But on small maps an advanced T2 is not THAT necessary for OKW (the situation is different in 3v3s or 4v4s and sometimes in 2v2s depending of map).
On 1v1, alot of good players are starting with T3 (the Puma building). For instance, a quick AA supporting your infantry could be devastating for your enemy in start game but you must learn how to micro it almost perfectly. Another option is the nasty infantry that you can spawn from buildings like Falls or JLIs. The timing is the key. Spawn them when storming a position just behind the unit you attack or cap behind enemy lines cutoff points or VPs. You can play defensively but you really need to know how to lock an area and that is more difficult because besides lack of mistakes you need to know the maps by heart or be agressive which in my opinion is easier but for that you need apropriate firepower, not just volks.
In time I discovered that there is no mandatory build order with OKW on small maps. There were times in 1v1 and 2v2 when I started with T3 and T2, building T4 verry late if at all. There are so many combos, for instance had no idea how efficient can be a JLI - JagdPanzer - Puma combo untill I accidentaly tested (Jagdpanzer and Puma long range love JLI spotting skills). And so on.
Ok, talked to much. GL and HF you all. |
you can 1v1 me also since u wanna talk "big game" homie
i will 1v1 both of u. trust me when i say it will be easy wins
It will prove that ALex knows jack shit about balance if he getss stomped
No doubt you are a 1v1 superhero, probably the only problem with your game is your attitude which makes me puke, this being the only reason for which I would play anybody but you. Even Katitof , he is one milimeter still a more decent person than you are. You have to respect your opponent, and I couldn't respect you no matter how hard I would try. |
You always react as if people are against you personally and misconstrue what is being said. I'm for gameplay, not axis. I would like to see buffs and nerfs and mechanics changes to soviets to make them viable to play with an interesting style.
I am sorry but it's your fault because you mind him. Ask him how many axis game he played, then watch his nose growing. |
Current Ostheer in effect.
Not too weak, not too strong, now pays for mistakes.
Great, so let's make soviet pay for mistakes too. |
I'm not a 1's player by any margin (fuck, I just did my 2's build because I had no idea how to do a 1's build), but shit like sitting shock troops at max range, charging into your own flame barrages, and sitting mortars next to sturm pios is fairly obviously dumb.
The thing is you microed better than he did even if you chose the easy way by blobbing. These guys are accusing you of blobbing when probably they are doing it all the time as 80% of player base . He would have blobbed you with his cons too, if he had the chance, make no mistake.
That being said that doesn't mean he can't beat you, I'm sure he can if he won't do those mistakes again (but let's be fair and admit that many micro mistakes are due to the fact that game is still laggy and not properly optimized, RELIC), the idea is that you cached him off guard, because he made the mistake of underestimating you, assuming that different opinion means no game knowledge.
And the game's outcome would have been different if he was a little more lucky with that base attack, Jagdtiger doesn't excell in close fights. But, again, he was able to build 2 IS2s and 2 KV8s even if you dominated the game compared to your single Panther and Jagdtiger that arrived just in time, not a moment to soon, though he had these vehicles for sometime before the attack.
See where the problem is? I wouldn't call OKW OP. Not at all. |
