Mostly now I only find them a problem in 2v2 on certain maps and certain combinations that can be op. Maps like minsk pocket and rails and metals, rhoad to karhov where its often kind of a middle vp shoot out with not great options to flank and or are easily mined.
Some op combos like cmd panther with a team mate who goes jagd or ele. Or jagd or ele with a stuka loiter team mate (both pretty much counter any diving options, stuka loiter for obvious reasons and command panther because of its vision and flares providing site to see for the super tds, help keep them out of trouble and stopping any medium divers.) Volks having snares and also the large amount of most axis call in infantry all having snares dosent help either (understood why okw call in inf did before volks got snares, now makes no sense, never understood why soo many ost call in inf get snares)
If they can eventually get a superTD plus brumbar combo thats pretty fukin op as well. Cant use your tanks to fight brumbar (super td over watching it) and brumbar counters at guns and handheld at and because of armor and health pool its resistant to at guns (directly counters its counter) and TDs bouncing off its armor.
Jagd is worse of the 2 because of its range, dont understand why its still able to out range brits 17pdr, as at least 17pdr can counter an ele with good positioning and team combination.
Even with nerfs I think they could have a bit less armor, especially jagd. |
When activated it resets persh reload timer so it near impossible to actaully hit anything with it maybe a KT standing still. Also majorly buggy now too. Maybe just give it a white phos round now or smoke like sherman would be interesting. |

They do though. In practice. The numbers, the unit stats don't matter, at all. Every single time an infantry unit walks into an HMG cone and gets fired on, it WILL get suppressed, even if it just grazed the cone, because one burst from every HMG causes suppression.
Yet at the same time, HMGs in CoH2 don't behave properly, like they did in Dawn of War II. Instead of the machine gunner waving the MG throughout the entire cone and laying down suppressing fire throughout the cone, he just fires at a single squad at a time, so unless the squads are right on top of each other, they don't get hit/suppressed.
HMGs in general are a terrible unit that's both unbalanced (in favor of Allies due to more DPS) and unviable (in favor of no one, since not being able to stop a blob of infantry makes everyone who uses HMGs equally screwed against such mindless "tactics").
lmao unbalanced I would MUCH rather have mg42 suppression on a vickers than its damage. This is why every single time I get a chance as allied to steal a mg42 or 34 I will any allied player with a brain will. Plus it is hilarious when they try to volk blob or gren blob it and it actaully suppressed them all before they can just rifle nade it or incendiary burn it like they do to every other allied mg (-minus 50 cal that is a late tier MG) |

Mortar pits are still good in 2v2 just always put them behind shot blockers. They work best vs double ost because no incendiary nades. Against double okw that already have liegs they most linely wont work unless you go royal engineers for self repair and constantly put pressure on them, brit arty flares are on good way to do this why also buying you time with the area denile. Also you should constsntly be using there barrage to vet them as fast as possible as vet 3 they get much more resiliant. Even infantry standing on cap i still use the barage as auto fire isnt as effective anymore. Also with royal engineers the flame mortar call in works great to drop on paks and liegs forces them to pull back or even wipes them. Plus avre is much better and hhe crew repairs making it a viable doctrine as brits are probably thte least doctrine dependent.
Anoher trick is to try not build them til later luling your opponet into thinking you wont build them that way they dont choose docs or tech with the best counters for them. In 2v2 if I go that route my partner always has a doct he can pick to insta counter lehf arty. You just have to have the tools to defend against counters, at gun its pretty important to counter ost flame track and ost mortar halftacks etc. vs okw or double okw esp you most likely will need a bofos or they will just super blob it. many times you can with good placement have he bofos in a shot hlocking position to protect mortar pits as well as important map points cut off, fuel, or a vp it also stops all infantry and light vehicle harrasment i take out there light vehicle rushes with it all the time as they are thinking i have no snares then they drive around the corner into it boom light vehicle insta dead. Works best baiing them to it with uc they fall for it all the time. |

Why pay the same price? for a mediocre unit.
Its fair to compare the two as they share a similar cost and hit the field in the same time meaning engagements are bound to happen.
IMO the problem is the comet doesn't have anything special about it to make it 'asymmetrical' or require some way of beating an equally priced panther. Its not closing the distance on a panther nor does flanking as a blitz can happen or you are ez pz snared. The ranges are 45 and 50 with panther having slight edge so kiting comets is easier. Panther gun has higher pen ratio to the comet 74~% vs comet to panther 51~% making the engagement more lopsided in the AT department.
This would be fair if the Comet made up for its lack in AT department with better AI capability or had a lower price. As it stands now however. its just not a fair resource investment.
