Puma yes, Luchs, hardly.
16 dmg every burst is far from life threatening to 400hp unit. Just too much armor.
I understand what you're saying, an anti infantry vehicle does (and should, by cost/utility) beat a infantry hardcounter/light soft counter support team.
But the small damage it does do forces the Luchs to focus on the HMG or move, basically protecting the rifles. Plus with how AOE suppression works now it's possible to damage Luchs and suppress Volks at the same time. Like the relationship between .50 cal and luchs is like sturms and the flame engie clowncar
Plus with the removal of Shreks and new OKW goodies Luchs isn't a requirement anymore imo |
The problem with Grens is that, in CoH1 terms, are just 4 man volks squads that can only be upgraded with the LMG that no one ever used. An army based on volks was not a good strategy in CoH1. (You at least needed medic necromancy to turn them into Grens. ) As such, armies based on Grens aren't that strong.
I mean, they're balanced with conscripts.
Panzergrenadiers would've taken the role of CoH1 grenadiers but they come with StGs already which makes them unreliable at range, which drops the burden back down on Grenadiers. It makes me wish the stats and upgrades of panzergrenadiers and stormtroopers were swapped, save for the camo. I'd gladly pay for StGs if I wasn't always forced to close distances with the squad. Once they got their vet and became a bit more durable I could THEN make them take on an assault role.
This is one of the more intelligent posts I've seen regarding the Ost infantry dilemma.
IMO PzGrens should have been a hardy 3 man G43 unit with smoke/stick grenades that can repair vehicles, and there should have been a 250 Halftrack in their tier. (Or 251 should've been open top.) |
I thing you're confusing .50 cal with AT gun here
.50 cal soft counters luchs and puma. (AT gun hard counters though.)
Hit a Luchs with an at nade and a .50 cal can finish it using AP rounds |
Do the .50 cal buffs effect fighting positions and tank mounted ones?
With the loss of shrek Volks and mortar addition, fighting pits are actually useful now. (Mortar kills AT gun shooting at pit.) |
Get with the times, man!
.50 cal, M20 crew, and M15 all counter luches.
Stuart 60 muni ability needs change-other than that Captain tier is fine.
LT rise could use M15 price buff and M20 armor price buff.
USF is tricky to play as always but they are in a good spot now. |
OKW actually feels like it's supposed to feel to feel like, possible USF strategies multiplied by 10. Soviets vs Ost is roughly the same, slightly better T34/76, Penals into Guards slightly better. Sandbags for Grens feels cool, too.
As USF buffed 50 + buffed major arty means double .50 cals into fast Sherman means you can counter lights + troops, and rush a tank fast. You don't need to worry about Shwerer, buffed major arty + any commander arty sinks a Shwerer, solo takes it to 45% HP. Self spotting Jackson and efficient HMC makes combined arms tank groups pretty fricken good. Oh, and the mortar is a godsend.
OKW plays like they should, specialized units that seize initiative early game and get pushed back slowly as they vet up an increasingly elite army. Stock mg34 is great. Volks are great. Shrek Sturms are great. Really only issues I have are the redundant Flak track/ IR track, and Obers being "meh." |
Just realized that Luchs plus shrek sturm is a god combo, also realized that Volks go well with puma.
Sturms repair luches fast and ward away other lights, can sweep for mines and over run at guns.
Upgraded Volks punish unupgraded infantry, combined with MG34 you can use fire and maneuver strategy. The Faust helps the puma kill, and the stg44 kills infantry.
Patch specialized okw units and formed new synergies-it's great. |
Oh here's another one I just remembered. USF's base has 4 racks, only 3 are usable. The 4th is actually called aef_weapon_rack_m1c_garand. This implies the Pathfinder's Marksman Rifle was once intended to be an optional squad upgrade like the BAR, Bazooka, and M1919.
I kinda wish they kept it that way, but who knows how that would effect balance. Definitely would be more accurate to US Sniper Doctrine though.
Rear echelons and assault engineers with scoped rifles makes no sense |
Remove panther from game, give Germans t4 kettenkrad that supports other units with radio waves |
T70 is perfect imo
Only lights that need buffs are greyhound, a change to the point blank engine shot ability of Stuart, and OKW flak track |
