The thing is that the tank could be made very good against infantry without making the gun into an unfairly good one shot boomstick. Just do one simple thing;
Introduce every machine gun the Stuart had as fully functional.
One .50cal on the roof, and five (yes, five) 7.62mm brownings? That should mulch infantry all day.It has more machine guns than crew members, that's how much it loves MG's baby. |
I wish I could love the stuart more, not going to lie.
It can arrive wonderfully early, keep in mind. Fuel for the captain and stuart combined, as your first investment, keeps its arrival nice and timely. Against an OKW player that's thrown some nades it can be kinda neat.
But it's certainly not good, just an option to capitalize on a fuel advantage and possibly chase down some flack HT's/222's. Which is a shame, yes. |
so basically for 30mun worth of them they almost work as well as a standard 30mun mine but are doctrinal and do not work against infantry.
the point of cheap mines is not that you can make a line of them; it's that you can cover a wide area.
No, for 30 muni and good placement they work substantially better than standard mines.
Light engine damage is your norm on 30 muni of standard, heavy if you're lucky. A cluster of light AT will regularly immobilize. Massive, massive difference. |
Have you ever actually used the light ones? They are terrible.
They take a shit ton of micro plant properly and have little to no effect.
Lawdy you could not be more wrong.
Lie them in a straight line in a direction you expect an enemy tank to barrel forwards. Once they drive over five or six (the length it takes to brake even if they're paying careful attention) you'll normally immobilize the enemy tank.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH8ld-vYQzw has a great showing of them. Game is a little meh in general, but you see the light AT mines put to good use |
American AT mines are already awesome. A line of the cheap ones or a single heavy one, both are brutal to vehicles.
They have mines.
Use them. |
We shouldn't skirt history to such a massive degree just to try to shoehorn in unviable factions. Want Japs? well then I want a MAUS or a T-28
The t-28 is a very real tank, it's just arse. The MAUS was a prototype that was never finished, ever.
We're not skirting history to make an Italian army. We're using gear they had, troops they had, and equipment they had.
We're just representing a very well supplied battle group. And those existed too. Be they a minority and poorly commanded or no, they existed. |
A thing to remember when considering the viability of armies like the Italians is that we're not tied to restraints that the armies were in WWII; we can overcome a lot of the problems the Italians had when it comes to the war by ignoring the issues of logistical supply chains, unit availability and quantities of production.
For a multiplayer army, the Itallians can have cheap and ready light tanks and their heavier AT can come in the form of their pre-armistice tank destroyers. Much like the Americans, a good TD can easily compensate for the lack of a heavy tank. Their infantry can be 5/6 man rifle armed, they have MG's and weapon teams, yada yada.
They have the Cannone da 90/53. It's a damn good gun. They have submachine guns, rifles, carbines, and field guns. Yada yada.
It's perfectly possible to build an army around their equipment, theme it as best as you can to their historical structure (within reason for balance) and cost it appropriately for what you get.
An Axis fraction that doesn't automatically have better everything is a terrifying thought, I know, but the allies have been making do just fine for a long time now. You can do it, wehraboos. |
Like it just blows my mind there are people who seriously didn't abuse the hell out of button back when it was good. Old Button + Old ISU = Kreygasm.
It blows my mind that people don't abuse the hell out of TWP.
TWP + The PaK it came with = MVGameKappaGasm
Pair of PaK? Supergasm. |
-PTRS rifles are strong enough to stop a Luchs rush, a half track rush-
Excuse me?
You mean the two vehicles which can kite the guards all day long without ever letting them take the time to aim and fire back?
One of which suppresses them instantly as well as going an arse ton of damage? And comes with smoke if things get hairy?
Jesus. They stop you just driving them right into their base, for a little while, at best. They don't actually force them off. They just die.
Maybe try playing a game as soviets ever? And deflate your massively over hyped epeen ego? |
Counter play to stun shot is "Don't drive your tanks into AT guns". The Ostheer AT gun is fragile, and if a tank gets around it it's instantly dead due to the small crew size.
Stun shot isn't OP, it's just a good vet ability and it's good compared to the now total garbage button.
My god, how sensible! I'll just use my magic telepathy power to see into the FoW. Not driving into AT guns is so super easy when their range is longer than the line of sight of any of my units. How did I never think of this before.
Avoiding at AT gun with range longer than your sight is so much easier than avoiding getting close to a guard squad with a buttoning range substantially less than LoS. Of course. |
