Two of three things need to happen:
-Reduction in cost, presumably fuel. Manpower cost is one thing, but pop cap as it is in automatch maps, it's not so much an issue.
-Increase in accuracy, at long range, while moving, or against stationary targets. Preferably across the board.
-Increase of frontal armor (potentially with a decrease to rear armor). Mobile maneuvering exposing the rear would be panther's main gamble, but the panthers would prevail in a slug out match with another medium tank.
Those are my thoughts on the matter of the Ostheer panther.
Fuel cost yes.
Accuracy, obvious otherwise all its other stats are useless coz it misses half the time.Just nerf the range because it never hits anything at that range.
No we don't need anymore frontal armor on this glorified meatshield, just slapping more and more useless armor when its a dud without any killing power. We need accuracy and DPS.No one buys an elite stock tank that has less dps than the general medium tank and also nearly no AI.Just a mobile armoured box moving around the battlefield once in a while firing wildly with a drunk gunner. |
I prefer a healthy mix of ammo and fuel points. Having a lot of fuel is nice, but when you are good at armor preservation, or have something like a howitzer in your load-out, then all that extra fuel just stacks up and is useless. Ammo on the other hand is always great; except for when you are playing soviet defensive commander.
Fuel is always good for OKW,because the more he has more he can pump the king tiger. And king tiger is the one axis tank soviets fear. |
My god,am i the only one that sucks.I'm 1 prestige rank plus 90 levels and have recieved till now some NKVD shit commander for faction i don't use,Storm doctrine and fortified armor. And like a a hundred faceplates, bulletins, victory strikes and skins. |
When people refer to them as terminators, they are referring to the days before the small arms fire changes. This was a time when you could select your 4 man panzergrenadier squad, run into a conscript squad and wipe them out without taking losses.
In any case, you can cut the 1 infantry faction. Indeed they have few infantry, and half of their infantry call-ins are just their regular units in a halftrack, but the ostheer has something the other factions don't have: all support weapons all the time for a low tech cost. With the coming changes to the call-in structure, you can bet your ass that the advantage of cheaply being able to get combined arms and still get tanks in a reasonable time will be very noticeable.
What i meant was people saying i don't want terminators back..what i said was they'll hardly be terminators even if they get a buff, coz how bad their survivability is now. Before they only faced cons, now rifles in the game, before they had high armor, most imp this was before theinfantry lethality patch, and their accuracy also got nerfed..with the result we have a rather shitty MP sink unit.I have waited 6 months to be able to use another infantry as ost, lets see tomorrow or later next patch, otherwise i'm abandoning this sinking ship wehrmacht. You can't play like this forever, there's a saturation point playing with one strategy every game coz meta doesn't allow diversity.
No support weapons will ever replace standard infantry, more so because unlike maxims or sov 2 man snipers u can't spam them with any effectiveness as ost. |
Barely beat rifles, even conscripts can bleed them..some terminators ..lol.This wouldn't be such a major issue if wehrmacht had other infantry options..they don't.So you have 1 line infantry unit for a whole faction. |
Its main issue is how it makes mg 42 redundant unless ur very good or lucky, and then the rifle blob eats ur grenadiers.Making more than 1 or max 2 jeeps is not worth it,but u can spam them then withdraw and refit..i have used this tactic quite succesfully vs wehr players and have faced it too.Once they lose their mg 42 cover the grens become fodder. But there is a window for this....u have cause heavy losses and deny him fuel which can be done ,before he gets 2 lmg grens. Then grens will be able to at least stand up to rifles. You usally forego the aa halftrack when u take this,so early game dynamic pushing is necessary. |
fortifications 3x, elite troop 2x, elite armored doctrine 2x, scavenging 1x and rifle company 1x
But too many faceplates....
Whats ur prestige rank? How did u get so many commanders? i only got 4..all marginally useful even though i play regular and get literally scores of bulletins, faceplates and victory strikes, skins etc..My dream is elite troops or spearhead .Even mech assault or joint ops would do,lol.

In teamgames we build at max 1 muni cache if there are 2 or more wehr players, otherwise all fuel.Depending on muni conversion for OKW is unreliable as usually heal truck is first, and since OKW doesn't get fasty medium armor u want wehr player to get pz 4 to deal with inevitable t-34 harassment or to simply push back us /shock blob. |
i disagree. its certainly not as easy as attack moving with schrecks or tanks, but its not really problematic. its just more micro intensive. you cant just click on the tank you want to kill, you need to position the gun yourself. that way you can make the most of its arc and avoid sight/shot blockers. its the same when youre getting circled, just clicking on the tank will never work unless your opponent sucks.
my typical early/mid game build for wehrmacht has been 2 grens, 2 mgs, 2 paks, a scout car and a ht (not in that order). not exactly a highly mobile build, but i have no problem pushing with it. you can do a similar build with americans, it just takes longer to get since you would need lt and captain
This is a dangerous and advanced build,i'm guessing ur micro is good because if u lose one of ur mgs in this build ur whole position can be compromised quickly.Pushing with AT guns is difficult than with armor, crawling is good though..i think thats what u mean.Slowly advance..by pushing i mean transfer a whole assault force to a certain point in the map at will . |
Well not really. The schreck is always bundled in some way which means they come at a small discount like the T34-85 dual call-in. If they came separately their price would be more like 70 munis.
That being said they are probably twice as effective so I think the balance is still skewed. The us really needs the bazookas to be better. They have enough light vehicle counters, they need help dealing with tanks. A damage buff or pen buff would be good.
As for the at gun, it becomes really good at vet 1 with its ability which it gets pretty fast since its pretty cheap. The only thing it needs is a pen buff for the at rounds. Even with the ability on it has less pen then the other at guns. It makes it really hard to fight heavy tanks even if you did everything right.
Problem with bazookas being better is if USF inf can reliably counter heavy tanks they may not opt for tanks much anyway..then u have a death blob roaming around totting bazookas and lmgs.USF blob is already very intimidating, but suffers to armor especially heavy..if they can get past that they become the new airborne blob of coh 2,this time with lmgs. |
