I was playing a bit of axis last night and I have to say I agree with all the complaints about grenadier weakness. Sure they can be played effectively and all that, but they just seem to not have the same power as other base infantry squads. Well mainly volks and rifleman. Cons have the own issues(as they always have, but that is a separate discussion).
So why not give Grenadiers a 5th man with a corresponding cost increase?
4 man squads are just too vulnerable to be mainline infantry. Lose 1 man and you've lost 25% of your DPS (unupgraded), lose 2 men and you have to retreat. Maybe some changes need to be made elsewhere too, but I think this would give Ostheer what they need.
The whole point of the 4 man squad was for some asymmetrical balance between Sov and Ost. Well now you've got three other factions in the mix and some of the balance systems for Ostheer and Soviets are just antiquated and need to be revisited.

Everone needs to f off, hard.
Preview testing was a thing |
Good bye one shot killing allied tanks blob... Now allied players can make flanking manevuers to heavy axis tanks. Changes are good. But okw may need some kind of pak.
Correct. Thanks for this. In addition I'd like the okw pak to have good range and sight. Would be great if it could retreat from danger. Garrison would be ace. |
Feedback on exactly how to integrate the Soviets would be helpful. Keep it coming. I'll parse the thread tomorrow, its extremely late in my timezone.
Use core armies only... no commanders. That creates an equal testing ground with all the other factions and ensures your results are valid. |
The Soviets were built around Commander choice tho and rely upon it a hell of a lot more than any other Army, at least for now.
Then why only want to include guards and shocks? Because he thinks they're more representative than the other call-ins?
bullshit
It's not that I love sovs too much, it's just that it's bad science. That pisses me off. |
Hello all,
So, I had an idea: conducting tests using only the core armies. No doctrines. No bulletins.
The purpose is to:
a) See how the armies perform without any doctrinal units. [Caveat: Shocks and guards are the exception for reasons below]. This, I feel, will clarify which armies are under performing at core and relying on crutch units etc. I feel that this will provide valuable balance feedback. Commanders should open new roads for us, not be the roads we travel on.
It's a nice idea but the players should NOT use guards and shocks as these are NOT core units, do not try to justify their inclusion somehow. Just leave them out.
The core design does NOT depend on one or two commanders: i.e. those with Guards and Shocks, because that means that any other commanders are not designed to be used. |
Played a 2v2 as brits today. The OKW tried to swarm the western fuel, sending all their starting units (sturm, volk, kubel). Chased them away with IS and Vickers. Their first SchrekVolk easily killed the flamer UC (surprise sex as the schrek finished researching). I wiped a volk with a mine on the flank. Then a LEIG came, he defended with a MG34, then pushed using a blob and Luchs that ignored suppression from 2 vickers, flame-bombed my trenches, wiped my AT gun and AEC and then killed my forward tent.
Alas, I had a noob kunt ally that went cancer on the east. That was why I was forced to try and lock down this fuel, because the kunt had no fucking units and mid was infested. But even his glider insertion and IS backup couldn't stop that volks blob from killing my tent.
Two vickers could not stop that blob from advancing, due to sustained fire from LEIG. His tech tree countered mine. |
Another Axis fraction will be fun
Necro, typo, incorrect use of tense, lack of punctuation.
So many mistakes yet they all pale in comparison to the mistake of raising this from the dead. |
I've heard this exact argument before. For some reason people treat potential teammates as wild beasts that you can communicate with exclusively through grunts or something. I find that even random teammates can be reasoned with.
Don't peddle your lies here, DEMON!
OUT wi' ye.
OUT! |
No point going t-70 against OKW anyway until schreks are removed from volks. If you're gonna make vehicles from T3 then make a halftrack. It comes earlier, helps you control his blob from long range with reinforce+suppression
Reinforce OR suppression. |
