Green T-34's were absolutely terrible. If anyone remember the CoH2 beta where every penetrating hit inflicted a mini-crit on the vehicle, that's what Green T-34's were. If the T-34 was hit by another tank, it would disable some part of it. Red Banner T-34-85 would be awesome though, the Soviet faction has no elite armored vehicles.

Company of Heroes emphasizes unit preservation and tactics, there is no such thing as "expendable armor".

No one said they had to be the same implementation as the beta though. Red banners for example would definitely need TA treatment, where they still need to vet up but have unique abilities.

Green T34s could theoretically work as cheaper T34s with worse stats on accuracy and aiming and worse veterancy, but still have full armor and damage. When vetted, they could basically be normal T34s. They would basically be a very cheap medium tank that costs more fuel than manpower ratio wise to buy compared to other tanks. I don't really care either way how they get implemented, its just a unit concept that I feel could fit well with this commander, especially since if I remember right they had unique voice-lines.

Adding T-34/85 would make this doctrine too OP, especially in team games. You have fuel drops and pretty competent 85s plus heavy KVs a bit much.

Fuel drops are irrelevant unless you plan to not upgrade penals, throw grenades, build repair stations or use self repair etc...or as soon as the first bit off aa comes out.

I don't see how the T34/85 (which would be the best choice as the KV1 is still a bit poor imo) would make the commander OP. Considering there are commanders with elite infantry (guards motor) or a better heavy tank (armoured assault). The only thing this commander really has is repair stations and the KV2.

The kv8 is available in much better doctrines but its alright.

inb4 "soviets are light muni faction" from someone who haven't played soviets in 2 years and missed everything being given muni cost and whatever had muni cost, having it increased.

Fuel drop is unreliable ability with unreliable results and with ostwind being pretty meta atm, its completely unusable one.

Well, on one hand, KV-2 and 34/85 might be indeed strong, but then again, armored assault exists.

Windustry needs KV-1 instead of KV-8 since it already has AI heavy coming from T4, there might be some point in KV-8+IS-2 combo because of IS-2 horrible AI performance, but KV-8+KV-2 makes no sense after removal of callins

Repair vehicle could be also replaced by Conscript repairs since commander already has repair stations as munition sink

In a 3v3/4v4 I like to build enough for all my teammates so by the end it can add up to a fair amount.

Swap fuel call in for recon or something else that supports the team.

Swap repair vehicle for conscript repair.

swap kv8 for T34/85.

Most suitable build that comes to mind atm.

If you exchange selfrepair on cons repair and leave repstations as it is, you still will have two repairs abilities. Imo this one will be needless nerf for the doctrine without any profits.

One costs munitions the other is a passive ability granted to cons for free.

Just trying to mix it up and 'balance' out the boost of giving the commander the T34/85

the kv 1 fits better with early war theme than t 34 85, and it could use the mini at gun instead of self repairs

tbh either is a better fit than the kv8.

Mini at gun could be ok.

How is Soviet Industry an early war themed commander? It took until late 1942 for the Red Army to rearm from factories relocated to the Urals.

It also.. you know.. forces you to use a bad unit to benefit from it.
It would be a nerf, regardless of argumentation.

And what is early war for you? Here's the armored production for Medium Vehicles in World War II.

1941: 3,016
1942: 13,473
1943: 19,808
1944: 22,618
1945: 16,606

Spot where it's highest, sounds fitting for Soviet Industry to me.

While we're on the Sov Industry commander what would people think of changing the KV2's stationary ability to a scott/su76 style barrage?

At the moment there is little reason to use its ability as it just make it too vulnerable.

I’d actually make it some sort of indirect 1 shot flame round barrage to fit into Urban Defense better.

This doctrine would be interesting if they replaced the KV8 with the KV1, replaced self repair with Guards, and let the KV2 switch between siege and normal faster.

For the people that worry about themes, it would be coherent. For most of us, it would give the Soviets good breakthrough power with KV1's backed by a KV2.
