I personally wouldn't change their weapons but add the 5th man. They could be more useful and less likely to get wiped. Also they would be able to capture decrewed weapons more easily, which is often a problem for ost.
It is a horrible idea to give a flamethrower squad too much survivability.

They have doctrines for that. Sov and usf need doctrines to get more then paper weight mediums. Sov are the most doctrine depended to get the good stuff.
Pio,s are fine. Their extra sight makes them worth their price. They can see but not be seen. They also are quite decent up close.

They could use something to encourage combat usage past 10 minutes they have a chance in hell of getting vet 2. Most other engineers are getting combat adjustments

pios are fine and honestly the unit I would use as a baseline to balance all other engineers around. I dont know why people say DPS is a problem, theyll actually shred vet0 units if you can get on top of them. sight is welcome all game long and they have a serviceable flamer upgrade too. I wish RETs were more like pios 3:
I think CE are better 'baseline' (if you wanted to say benchmark) since everyone knows that both pios are used aggressively.
If you can get on top of them can be considered a missplay of the defending side, therefore by no means a good argument to prove a units strenght. Shock troops use the same logic and no one is out there screaming to buff grens to shocks level.
If you seek to buff RET using pios as an argument, i have bad news for you (looking at you katitof)

Can we look at giving weapon teams a faster reposition time on vet?

Mg42 already have nearly 180° acc, instant suppress and get supported by pio with increase sight range. Yet now you want to add faster reposition in the combo ? Are you heading to an unflankable Mg

instant suppression? no.
faster reposition on vet? yes.
I believe allies infantry on vet also gain less suppression.
Allies already have good arty to clear weapon teams.
Why allies MG keeps get tiny buff. But wehr no? Dont forget grens are bad at flanking and clearing weapon teams, at least compared to what stock allies have.
Also not just MG, but mortar and pak too. A little faster on vet, either buff teardown or setup. Wehr imo has poor veterancy gains or at least not complimenting their flavor.
