Anyone else think the smoke barrage on mortars could stand to be faster? Compared to more direct smoke deployment (grenades, tank smoke) they're painfully slow. While this makes a degree of sense from a realism standpoint, it limits the utility of mortars as smoke launchers.

Given mortars are now much weaker bleed tools, could they stand to be better at their smoke deploying role? Maybe a responsivity similar to the smoke launcher on the Sherman? By no means ninja smoke, but fast enough to use reactively.

Dunno, mortar smoke is FREE and has a lot more range than nades or tank shells

Just for the soviet 82mm. Soviets have very few smoke abilities and they deliver slowly.

Is it? You have to buy a mortar for it.

I'd like to see it faster, since a lot of times smoke doesn't really even offer an advantage over just hitting whatever it is with HE instead and on the occasions when you do really need it it's often not fast enough to be that useful still.

Smoke should be faster like in steel Division. Smoke aiming time is half of a normal barrage and thus way more utilizied.

Can someone summarize the actualy deployment times for each?

Ive found that smoke from a LEIG takes forever to deploy sometimes.

Had this happen plenty of times too.

Generally I think smoke should be deployable faster. Feels unneccessarily slow at the moment.

I suspect it finishes the mortar's reloading cycle first, which takes about six seconds. That's before it even fires.

Totally agree with this. The response time of smoke is just way too slow to be used reactively against players who properly micro mgs and the smoke doesn’t really last long enough to pre saturate an area for a push.

More responsive smoke might actually make it worth using instead of just barraging the target.

I know I called in a smoke barrage from a 120mm last night and I'm still waiting for it to land, so yes

That might have something to do with overall reload for 120mm being equal to Vasilij running back behind the front lines, to the factory and rolling that shell back alone from it, by foot, then doing it all over again for next shell.

How seperating the smoke barrage cooldown from the normal barrage? Could offset its long time till impact by being more flexible.

Just throwing an idea out there.
